With a surge of power you leap skyward, gliding silently on Spiral Glass wings.
Your unsure exactly how many guards belived or even heared you, but your use of magic definatly attracted attention.

Far below you both watch as the ship is rapidly encased in a protective magical shell that flows and shapes itself into a wedge.

You watch as the ship rides the great wave upwards, its magical shell balancing and accelerating it up the wall of roaring water, cresting it in a burst of spray and begining its long slide down the other side.


Not gonna lie you kinda wish you had stayed onboard, it looks hella fun..

Once, Long ago, the Sea People gave a gift to the children of the land.
this was before runes, and magic was locked away behind mystery and dreams with only the sea people able to wield it.

wishing to share the Dreamers Gift with the young races they built great towers of spiralling glass across the world, these towers drew in the winds of magic and stored it in a easily accessible form.

the Sea People went to the children of the land and showed them their creation, using the magic to grow bountiful crops, warm homes, bestow powerful Pneuma and ensure healthy births.
this gift they gave willingly and asked nothing in return, sharing it with all.

So of course it caused the biggest most bloody war in history.

the selfish wanted to control, the Patriotic wanted to deprive other nations and the bloodthirsty simply wanted the excuse. over a million people died, soaking the ground before the towers with blood and tears until the Sea People acted.

Without a word they cast the towers down, uprooted the network they built to aid a ungrateful world and returned to the sea leaving only small scraps of glass behind. the nations that had spent so much effort on a now empty goal collapsed and the first dark age began..

Hmm, so I’ll admit I’m at a bit of a lose on what to do? Trying to seize the thing seems like a bad idea and the fact that the land of the dead already has a good source of magic with your dad makes it feel a bit unneeded. Destroying it could be a possibility if you think no one else would recognize otherwise doing so might bring a nation or two ire down on your home. And while leaving might not be to bad for your kingdom since more dead just means you get the equivalent of a baby boom some bigot with a chip on his shoulder against the undead could use this to become a problem or worse someone trying to have a dick measuring contest with your dad trying to prove he has more magic than him.

So princess, as the princess and currently the only official authority of your land around what would you say the stance is for the land of the dead on this tower? And I’d ask the other princess what she’d think her people wanted to do but she is looking for a way out of politics and I’m not sure she’d want to deal with this if she doesn’t have too.

You’ll just have to steal it all for yourself first!

One wonders what reason there be for the tower's return, though. Maybe 'Oops, someone pressed the wrong ancient magic button and we don't know how to undo it yet, but we're totally gonna!'? ... say, is there some manner of connection between this being a Spiral Glass tower and you having Spiral Glass wings, Xhochinetilli? Did the Land of the Dead inherit some of the magic knowledge of the Sea People? Or secure a few of the remaining scraps of glass?

Well, the good news is that people know how the Sea People reacted last time when the power was abused. So they won't do it (as much) this time. The most reasonable people will probably draw up laws and regulations on magic use and try to reach an international agreement so there isn't a war over simply the use of magic. As for the bloodthirsty, that is handled by an alliance between the nations that agree on how magic is to be used.

I wonder if we can push things towards that result? Let's land on the boat and start talking to all the important people there.

People... can't handle being given things they don't understand. Only those who are empty inside have the space in their beliefs to stuff a dangerous sandbox of chaotic and unknown potential into their hearts and channel it through their claws. That's what the Sea People failed to comprehend.
Or, perhaps, they knew all too well.
