Welcome to Cookiequest, a magical tale of horror! Potentially NSFW, this quest will have blood, gore, death, dark themes, and maybe sexual content depending how things go.

Snow falls at Rosewood University in dry flakes, melting and disappearing into the dirt. The plants and bushes transformed from their rich lush green into a tangled brown bracken, and the trees resemble giant skeletal hands clawing from the ground. A heavy fog permeates campus and makes it difficult to see much further than a few feet ahead.

Yea, go back in and use the various communications infrastructure based devices you have access to, to signal for aid. If one doesn't work, methodically work your way through others. You have TOTALLY seen this movie before.

"Oof..." Sherb says. "This isn't right at all. That's some really thick fog too..."

"Maybe there's a short-cut through the building we can take, or some faculty member can help us." Marshal suggests. When Marshal turns around to go back inside however, the doors are stuck. "It's locked!"

"But we just got out!" Sherb cries. He and Cookie instinctively push the doors, but they won't budge.

"I'll call Kiki!" Cookie says. "She can help us!" Good thing the two of them were already BFFs before this happened, because Cookie forgot to ask the phone numbers of everyone else in the literature club. She puts the phone on Speaker so she and the boys can hear.

"Hello?" Kiki asks.

Ask her if she's seeing this crazy fog. You're kinda worried about getting lost if you try to walk around in it, can she help you out? Maybe she can look up some campus numbers for you to call? Like... campus police? Campus police are supposed to escort you if you feel threatened.

Well, if you can't get help or use the GPS, everyone's gonna have to stick together to make sure nobody gets separated. Then follow the paths. Your university has paths between buildings, right?

Does your university have those lit, hard-wired poles where you can press a button to call for aid from Campus Police for any reason? Go on the largest, most well-marked paths to the nearest of those.

"Wait, did Kiki say she just got home?" Sherb asks. "But she can't have left the building that quickly already! This is starting to creep me out..."

Cookie tries the GPS and thankfully it seems to be in working order. Nothing looks out of the ordinary.

"I don't think we should go to the clinic anymore." Marshal says. "It's obvious there's something wrong going on here, and maybe we should just get back to our dorms."

"It doesn't explain the weird noises you and Cookie heard though." Sherb replies. "I don't feel comfortable going to my dorm alone... I think we should at least get to the bottom of this."

Cookie thinks about it. Getting separated would be a bad idea with all this fog around; maybe they can use the GPS to get back to one of their dorms and have the other two stay as guests. But maybe they should still see the clinic after all... or there could be some other place they could go to instead.

"We can go to my place!" Cookie suggests. "It's a little small, but it should be enough to hold the three of us! That way, no one has to be alone."

The boys agree this would be a good idea and walk beside Cookie as she holds her phone out. Before she sets out however, she takes a good look at her INVENTORY:

Cookie has a SPARKLY BLUE NOTEBOOK, a MATCHING GEL-POINT PEN, her LAPTOP, her CELLPHONE, and ONE CHOCOLATE BAR.

She takes note of her surroundings as they clear into view in the fog. There's an old giant tree bare of leaves and large sprawling roots swimming out of the ground. Closeby is a Frita's, a fast-food joint usually bustling with hungry students. The window is opaque and shows only darkness.

Cookie puts her phone on flashlight mode and shines it on the Frita's window. No dice. The inside is as dark as ever.

Cookie picks up a stick and cautiously pokes the toy with it. No more smoke comes out, so Cookie picks it up and adds it to her inventory. You never know what might come in handy.

With the help of her phone, Cookie is finally able to lead Sherb and Marshal to her dormitory. The doors are unlocked, but relief gives way to confusion. Where is everybody? What happened to the lights? Why is it so cold?

To the left of Cookie is a set of steel lockers and a hallway that leads to an old-fashioned elevator with a door like an iron gate. A crystal chandelier hangs above in the middle of the room, and in front of Cookie is a table and a painting. To the right is a hallway leading toward the stairs.

Cookie walks around the chandelier to get to the painting on the other side of the room. It depicts two polar bears tearing apart what remains of a shipwreck stranded in a glacier. The sails are soaked, moldy, and bloody, and one of the polar bears is chewing on the remains of an old ribcage. A sort of musket lies forgotten in the snow.

There's a slab beneath the painting that reads, "Man Proposes, God Disposes - Edwin Landseer, 1864"

"Um... Cookie, what floor is your room at?" Sherb asks.

"Third floor! We can easily take the elevator to..." Cookie's voice trails off. The elevator probably wouldn't be working. Would it?

Cookie squeezes her eyes shut and screams once more. She lands somewhere with an odd crumpling sound. What she sees defies explanation: everything around her except herself looks like a children's crayon drawing, from the bright sky around her to the grass scribbled at her feet. There are darker green splotches that look like bushes, with red things attaching to them that must be... flowers? Berries? What is this place? What on earth is happening?

Cookies hopes she's not dead! There's still so much she wants to do! Besides, she's got to look for her friends. Which... would require finding a way out of here first. She stands up and dusts off her dress.

She picks one of the red "flowers" off a "bush." Ouch! It's like getting a bunch of paper cuts on her hand. The petals fall apart like tissue paper and blow away from her hand.

There's a dark blue blotch ahead that resembles a lake. The gray stuff around it seems to be stone flooring for a garden, and the odd shapes around it and the lake look like statues.

The shuffling and rumbling summons a strange hiss surrounding the garden. As though materializing out of thin air, little crayon creatures swivel toward Cookie carrying what looks like a long... stick? Spear? Spike? Their bodies are crafted out of steel wool with mitochondrial strings forming a heart. Their heads are made of soot, and swirling within their gaseous cranium is some sort of dark wiggly red fluid. Their hissing crackles like television static.

They want her dead.

There's a gory mess beneath the chandelier; something that had once been a person. As a mouse (judging by their tattered ears and tail), their body is naturally small, so they couldn't have withstood the impact of a falling chandelier. Shards are embedded in their back, penetrating as deep as their spine. Their eyes are glazed with shock, their mouth frozen open in their final gasp as bloody saliva trickles from the corner of their mouth. Their arms are sliced up from the glass, ribbons of blood soaking into their fur. Maybe it was a student Cookie had seen once or twice on campus... but now she would never know, because however they arrived into this version of their school, they met with a horrible fate.

Then rip the body apart so whoever tries to make an attack zombie out of this corpse will be sorely disappointed.

Since there's something out there which can animate corpses, it likely has the means to deal with... reasonably large amounts of damage to the bodies. And things like the butchering industry and history let us know that you need EXTREMELY specialized tools to easily and quickly dismember or decapitate or whatever large bodies.

Cookie tears her eyes away from the body. It's her first time seeing a corpse outside the news and various media, and even if she wasn't nauseated and terrified to the pit of her stomach, there isn't anything useful she could've done. The mouse carried no weapon for her to take, and most of their body is buried under the chandelier, which would be too heavy to lift off of them. Even if she could access their pockets, their ID wouldn't matter much anyway.

She shakily takes her phone out and tries calling Kiki again. All she gets is her voice message. After the beep, Cookie explains what has happened to her so far: she and Sherb and Marshal are at her dormitory and they are separated. Someone is after her and they took her to this bizarre crayon area full of monsters where she barely escaped. She found a body and she doesn't know if her dorm room is even safe, but please please please please please call or text her back as soon as she can.

A thought occurs to Cookie and she asks for Sherb and Marshal's numbers. If she could contact them, she might be able to find them! She asks for Muffy's too in case she's also trapped in this awful version of their school. She ends the call and cautiously looks around for anything that might have heard her.

Time to do something about the key Cookie got earlier from the polar bear painting.

She goes down the hallway to the right. Ordinarily, it would be a hued a dark rose, lit by a beautiful stained glass window at the end. But the primary blues, yellows, and bright red center are desaturated along with the rest of the wood, making for a dreary atmosphere. Even so, the glass windows glare white as though trying to warn Cookie of the contents beyond their doors. Alas, she must press on.

Cookie uses the LARGE KEY on the second door to the left. This gives her access to the janitor's closet.

The room has a musty smell like a forgotten dungeon. The sink hasn't been used in ages, crawling with rust and weird tubes that don't seem like they go anywhere. The pipe it's connected to is aged enough that it could easily snap off. There's all sorts of detergents and sprays and bleach, along with the usual mops and brooms and swiffers. Yellowed stocks of toilet paper line the shelves, including more chemicals and bottles. A solitary toy wand lays forgotten on one of the shelves, striped like a candy cane with a star at the end.

"Cookie? Is that you?" Sherb is inside the room sitting on Cookie's bed. The walls and posters are smeared with soot, and the papers on her desk had rotted to dusty flakes. Beneath the prism, Cookie's clothes change. Bows as dark as the midnight sky adorn the top of her ears, and she wears a wizard's robe that glitters with stars from the deepest reaches of space.

Cookie now possesses the power of fire, sourced from none other than the Big Bang, the birth of the universe. It is up to her to use these flames to cleanse and heal. With that in mind, how does she approach the monster? How will she save Marshal?

Well, first, experiment with your power. You have some mussels embedded in you, can you purge them with fire? Can you extinguish the flames at will?
Once you have a handle on it, engulf the main body of the monster. If the flames are harmless to friendly targets you may as well cover Marshall in them, but if the purging process is painful you might have to take it slow with him once you've gotten him separated from the monster.

So, you don't necessarily have fire as you understand it. You kay have some sort of incredibly hot and dense and fast moving and pressurized plasma, the makeup of which will depend on how long after the Big Bang you are making your draw. Or, since Magical Girl, you probably have something that is more conceptually associated with dense, hot, fast moving, uniform plasma. So, you know, if you throw a fire lance at someone (and it'd be a beam, cause pressure and speed and such), it isn't necessary a WMD with you at the epicenter. Though you probably COULD do that. Regardless, it's an amazing weapon that shoots hot not-even-a-gas-yet at things.

Anyway! Conceptual! This plasma is astoundingly pure in nature, since nothing that has had a chance to change or dilute it has yet had a chance to exist. So you could take the concept of purity to cleanse corruption or impurity that way. Further, this is also, conceptually, the initial act of creation, the Roar Of God, as it were. So you can link that concept to thec reation of things like a new, healthy body and soul and spirit where tainted parts had to be purified out.

Give birth to Marshall, just like the Big Bang gave birth to everything! He'll uh, he'll be fine.
>>
No. 1076986 ID: dd3fe0

So, something to keep in mind about the time right after the Big Bang is that the heat of it is way, way, wayyyyyy hotter than fire. So you know the main states of matter, in increasing level of heat? Solid, Liquid, Gas? And how there's one beyond that, Plasma. So Fire is generally hot gas, maybe with some plasma at the hottest parts, for the hottest fires. But there's a state BEYOND plasma, a FIFTH state of matter. It's called 'Quark-Gluon Plasma', and it's where not only are there no molecules (too hot!), not only do atoms get stripped of their electrons (too hot!), not only do the nuclei of atoms get split apart (too hot!), but the actual neutrons and protons (and their antimatter equivalents, antineutrons and antiprotons)... just melt. Leaving raw quarks and gluons and things of that scale. THIS is what is present in the first 0.000001 second of the Big Bang!
