Now that it's been out for awhile, has anyone actually played the Mouse Guard RPG? Is it any good?

After looking through the combat rules, they seemed way too abstract to be any good, but I can't really decide without having actually played it, or hearing a verdict from someone who has.

I really hope it's good. It's definitely unique and an interesting, down to earth setting. A bit Dwarf-Fortress insofar as you have dudes fighting giant (to them) dangerous monsters without the benefit of magic or powers.

A cursory look made it seem like a very good game for beginners, both to playing and to game mastering. Most of the rules are easy to understand (you are right about the combat rules being wonky, took me a while to get my head around them).

It also seemed like a good system for running an improvised, on-the-spot game, also I've seen a couple play by post games go very well so I'd assume an irc or face-to-face game would go even better.
