Does Tgchan hold any nostalgiafags who remember this thing and can't help but wonder why all the new games are so damn complicated?

Because I was wondering if I was the only one.

I remember OD&D and think hey, it would be nice to have something that simple.

But my group has too many powergamers and they'd rape it to death.

There is a lot to be commended about Advanced Fighting Fantasy. It let you build any kind of character you wanted without arsing around with classes and levels, the rules were quick and easy, and most importantly the rulebooks were written well and engagingly and you couldn't ask for a better introduction to roleplaying.

But could you really go back to a game where you roll a die at character creation that determines how good you are at everything?
