Some of the choices are a little weak. When the choice is "show an interest in X" or "do X" versus "do nothing", it's not much of a choice. Unless there's a good reason not to do something, or we have a better idea on our own, we're probably going along with it. The quest might be better served in places like that if you actually offered concrete alternatives to pick from, or if you offered no option, and just left it free response.

The "sleep through the car ride (y/n)" prompts were pretty bad too, but mercifully those seem to have died off.

The puzzles / adversaries we're facing have been somewhat interesting in that the "toolkit" our characters have been given doesn't seem to quite fit the situations we're dealing with. For instance, the arm and necklace enchantments appear like they could be somewhat overpowered on first blush, but it's not always that simple to bring them to bear effectively (blindness, inexperience, and being beset make a big difference).

This is exactly what I needed to hear. All through the story I've been having the hardest time thinking of a way to end each post/page and think the sleeping in the car prompts should be a dead give away to that. Other than the whole sleeping prompts, what other prompts do you feel have been really boring/not really important.

"Wat do" / open response is fine, so long as it occurs at a point where we can actually choose to do something. Open response after being given a single option is where it seems weak.

Well, I suppose being saddled with problems we're not equipped for could be a bad thing, being forced to apply tools in interesting ways is something I look for in quests, and characters being challenged is what makes stories interesting in the first place.

I think I'm catching onto what you're saying. In one of the more recent pages Candy asked Rainy if she wanted to play pool while they waited for there clothes to dry. Should I have ended it with the "help me win the game" prompt instead of "should I play" prompt?

Something like that would have worked better, yeah. Choosing the game over nothing is a no-brainer. (Even if we could have technically derailed if we'd had a better idea to make bed-sheet ghosts, or ride the dryers, or something).

(Other alternatives that would also have worked: presenting a choice of games to pass the time, or just go right to open input, but have the pool table in the radar and/or room description so focusing on it is available as 'our' idea).

I can't stop laughing at the idea of how that whole attack/robber scene could have went if Candy and Rainy were just running around the place with bed-sheets over themselves, pretending to be spooky ghosts.

With Volume 2 of Blind Quest finished I'm thinking of taking a short break from writing it to re-think things over a little and try to polish up my skills a bit. I'd love to hear some feedback again while I do this. To be a little more specific, stuff like why do you like/hate the quest/what makes it interesting to you?, what do you feel are the story's weak points? Or maybe these are all just the bad questions to be asking and I should just shut up and keep working away at things?

Going to be taking a small break from working on Blind Quest and focusing more on Cheese Louise and Pepsi-Man.

In the mean time, some feedback on blind quest here would be very appreciated. I feel like my writing here is starting to get progressively worse. Any advice on you feel I could improve the quest would be extremely appreciated.

I think the weirdest part might be the particular tenacity / relentlessness of the opposition. Even when we go out of our way to try and disable them, even we we put ourselves in situations where it should be crazy difficult or impossible for them to attack us... they do.

It feels a little like... scripted encounters in a video game? Yeah, Trish is still gonna show up for a fight now, even if you just chased her down and beat her up. That was a random encounter miniboss, not plot relevant. It makes it feel a little bit like our choices don't have an impact.

It's not bad enough to the point where it's game breaking, and there has been lampshading hanging to mitigate it, but if you were looking for a place to improve your writing, I'd say that would be one place to think on. Making enemies more believable. Or maybe more reactive would be a better way of saying it. Circumstances don't seem to affect them.

Also, Don is too much of an asshole. Sure, it's ok the first time cause he was corrupted, but after that, him continuing to be an asshole to Rainy for no reason is just wrong. His attitude right now is, "I don't care if you saved me, I hate you for no reason! And I hate your ideas for reasons I'm not going to explain because we should always do things my way!" when his attitude should be, "Thank you for saving me." and "I don't agree with your plan, let me give advice on what I think we should do, but I'll still respect your decision if you think I'm wrong and explain why."

So wow, I can't believe that today marks the one year anniversary of Blind Quest. I find it a little hard to believe that I've been writing such an insane sounding story like this for a year now. I really don't know what say honestly. One thing I do know is, I couldn't have made it this far without all your help spooky guide spirits!

Looking back at the beginning I can see I've improved my writing a bit. I also see there's still room for improvement as well, and I'm excited to see how I'll use that room to improve over time. A serious thanks to everyone who's helped out a gave me feedback. This might sound a little corny, but you've been spooky guides for more than just a blind deer with a robot arm, you've also been guiding the person who was crazy enough to run this whacky adventure as well. If it wasn't for you, I don't think this story would be where it is right now. For that, I really can't thank you all enough.

It's been one hell of journey so far (and hopefully and enjoyable one as well). I look forward to making it to the with end all of you, my spooky buddies.
