I think it might be best if the author demonstrates their artistic intent through the act of telling the story rather than stating it here.
Its up to the creators to ultimately decide what the goal of their quest, but in my opinion /quest/ is a difficult place to try and push an agenda. Since the decisions made are in the hands of the audience, it can be hard to keep something like that from being derailed. If its something that the author considers important to them and they feel like the feedback they get isn't respecting that, it can be very hard not to take it personally. Its also very hard to stick to your "artistic intent" because, honestly, these things evolve and move in directions you can't predict when starting out. It can be done, and done amazingly well, but it takes co-operation and trust from both the creator and audience.
We don't know much since the story has just started but obviously part of the intent is to show what its like to have to deal with fibromyalgia on a daily basis. JJ I think you're doing a great job so far. Bailey is an interesting protagonist with a lot of character who is already having to deal with a lot of crap; I'm interested in seeing where you go with the story.
I don't know if you've checked out the wiki yet, but there is a general advice page that was a lot of help for me when I was starting out. http://tgchan.org/wiki/Advice
