For those of us who are new perhaps we can begin to catelogue where many of the shared references/meme/jokes comes from.

For instance, the Oldest Game, probably first seen on tgchan in MudyQuest, originates from the graphic novel the Sandman.

The section in the novel where this originates can be seen at http://elzr.com/posts/the-oldest-game-of-all

Now, I have always wondered where did "sing you the song of my people" come from? I have found a book titled "Song of My People" describing the African American's experience, but I am uncertain as to whether this is what we are refering to.

As well, please feel free to discuss various in-jokes.

BUTTERFACE BUTTERFACE BUTTERFACE

I have no idea how this started outside of a random suggestion in Dive Quest.

If that was inspired by anything or a reference to anything, I wouldn't know it.

BUT YOU'RE A BUTTERFACE BECAUSE I'M PUTTING BUTTER ON YOUR FACE

My basis for suggesting it was purely because butter was mentioned.

That was pretty much entirely started from one of Lawyer Dog's moments of inspiration. That's all it boils down to.

I would like to put some meme related to Dorf Quest in here, but there aren't any because no one can read something that freaking long.

Part of the justification for always going left is that most game designers are right handed and have a natural tendency to put all the 'interesting' stuff on the Right side first (this even holds true in some video games of today, though they try to avoid it consciously.)

Hence if you want a nice safer adventure (though you may miss some loot) it is always safer to take the lefthand route. Unless of course your DM is lefthanded, but then you probably already know he's actually Satan so you're screwed anyway.

New guy here. Concerning IRC... What is it good for? There are always a bunch of people on #tgchan, but it's rather calm. Is it for discussing quests or something?

By this, this poster means #RubyQuest is very loud, off topic, and full of discussion 20 hours a day. Reaver and Weaver are found almost exclusively there, and things can get silly, stupid, and downright retarded. However, its also always active, as has been said.

#tgchan is typically more on topic, but as such, has less to say. It is the quieter of the two channels, but is significantly more relevant. Many users browse in both rooms.

I see #tgchan as the dev channel. If I need help or discuss production or stuff, TGChan. If I wanna take part on the mass wild guesses and penis jokes, RQ.

"Sanya's Tail Syndrome" refers to artist errors where parts of a character's appearance are left out of images by accident. It's called this because when Sanya Quest first started her tail was missing every other update or so. This is not a stranger to many other quests though, as Hatch's hair clip is also subject to Sanya's Tail Syndrome, as are Nezumi's freckles and Telwis's antennae.

There is also "Lily Syndrome" and "Joan Syndrome," from Dorf Quest and Joan's Miserable Life, respectively.

Lily Syndrome is when a character keeps getting smaller as the series progresses. It was named after Dorf Quest's Lily, who started half as tall as Aldwin and ended up about 1/4th of his height a few chapters later. However, in her particular case, she got better, and ended up just short of half as tall as Aldwin at the end of the series. With most other characters, its because of artistic error - in Lily's case, she was meant to be tiny all along and he drew her too big initially.

"Joan Syndrome" is when a character's boobs keep changing in size over the course of a series, never staying consistent. In the case of Joan herself, they just keep getting bigger, occasionally shrinking a little when no one is paying attention so they can grow some more.

Technically, it was originally "Quickly retrieve arms from pumpkin." It originated in Jail Break, before Problem Sleuth.

Problem Sleuth just made everything famous. Problem Sleuth also made "Ride X like a mechanical bull" famous.

Where does the "round and soft and oh so inviting" comes from? The earliest I am seen is in MudyQuest, but it was used as an injoke there I believe.

The "round and soft and oh so inviting" thing came from Mudy Quest, actually. Sometimes things aren't references at all, but something entirely new.

And then they become references.

Does anyone know whether posts fall off the edge of the board if they are not archived? Or do they end up in the graveyard?

Yep, Full Life Consequences have been referenced in other quests as well, most notably Reaver(?)'s spin on Pokemon Quest.
>>

I'm not sure, but I think Reaver's spin on Pokemonquest was referencing Weaver's Johnquest back on /tg/ which initially referenced Full-Life Consequences.

If I recall correctly, there's a ridiculous limit on the amount of threads that the board can hold before they start getting pruned - 99 pages or somesuch. Dylan would know.

So it's not something to worry about for the time being.

Anyone privy to the knowledge as to where "I can see infinity" comes from? It is mentioned in gnomequest as a suggestion.

I think it's a variant on "I can see forever!" but I have no idea what that's from.
>>

Upon further googling, it seems that "I can see forever!" may originate from Call of Chthulu when one is being brain sucked through the eyeballs. Can anyone confirm this for me?
>>
No. 8375 ID: bde1b8

>>318165
I'm pretty sure "I can see forever" is from the movie Event Horizon, along with the phrase "Where we're going, we don't need eyes to see."

However, since I've not seen the movie yet, although I dearly want to, I cannot confirm.
