So, who would be up for a quest sort of like Cutebold Slaughterfest, and switching between Authors every two chapters as well as characters? The general, overlaying storyline of what's going on with the multiverse (As in, X is attacking, that's why shit is falling apart and only the combined shards of Y can defeat it or something) would have to be decided beforehand so that nobody contradicts each other, and of course all the teams would have to eventually meet up at the end for the FINAL BOSS, but everyone's way of getting to the FINAL BOSS and everyone's path through the multiverse would be left up to the authors and questers.

I'd recommend we use an IRC channel for behind the scenes talk and this thread for general ideas...

What do y'all think?

Sounds like too much of a chance for drama... I am currently okay with the level of crossover we have currently (not too much to be blatant, but just enough to keep you on your toes.)

Not if done properly, I don't think.

The best way would be to have everyone writing their own characters.

Sorta like the 'crossover' that Ridder and Muschio have.

Exactly, hence the multiple authors.

Each would take over their characters.

If Test signed on, he'd probably have a party consisting of Aphek, Goshen and Penji, or something like this, or have one chapter Aphek/Goshen and the other Penji.

Could be fun. Especially with our different styles, where humour and drama (the good kind) come at different levels.

If that's all then we are practically doing that already.

I just don't want to confine the authors or end up restricting up creative space as happened in certain fantasy universes that wound their plots too tightly.

Dragonlance for one notable example, suffered from too many cooks in the kitchen.

Would these be running concurrently or one by one, CSF-like?

I'm a bit skeptical of large scale cooperative efforts of this nature. All it takes is one guy going "no, no, don't switch to the next guy. I'll have my update any day now" to bring things to a crawl. And it'd mandate someone telling the other participants what to do.

There is the minor issue of power disparities, unless we're going with cartoony CrossoverQuest action. CSF handled this in a pretty realistic way. The medieval tech sergal we found was dead, the medieval tech dwarves are extinct, etc.

Well, one by one, but not necessarily one at a time. Just so long as each is their own thread and we don't have more than, say, two updating in the same night or something.

Isn't this basically what multiquest was?

That was one author, one update, cycling. This would be one author, one chapter, cycling.

Well, something else to consider is that it might be liberating to have some non-canon adventures with characters. See, I have this, uh, friend, who has more trouble updating the longer a quest goes on, out of fear of messing up whatever grand storyline is brewing.

...which might be a problem if such an endeavor is designed as a grand ultimate storyline of its own.

I think this is the quest fighting game in quest form.

Also, keep in mind none of the stories currently are connected save Dive+Knight Blades and a few others.

This could have all your favorites in one world, working towards the same goal, MAYBE interacting at certain points.

Naw, that'd be this: http://www.tgchan.org/kusaba/questarch/res/523774.html

That's pretty much the whole idea, as I understand it. Though presumably more than a little interaction, directly or indirectly, else what's the point?

It sounds like an interesting idea. Warrants an IRC channel for discussion at least. Is there one currently?

Count me in. Really would appreciate if I know the IRC channel for this.

There isn't one yet.

I've got an idea.

Instead of actually running a quest, why don't we just draw some images that are little snapshots of what the perfect "Crisis Quest" would be?

Draw the characters interacting in little noncanon situations, perhaps dealing with issues about the impending doom and reacting to insane/idiotic suggestions like Muschio's bit with the butter.

This way, nobody is tied down to set characters or gets "stuck" with anybody, we can have equally goofy and serious artwork, and people can update as they see fit, whether direct continuations or just another snapshot or whatever they want.

That's a bit less dramatic than some epic eight-chapter monstrosity crossover multiquest extravaganza, but a lot more realistic.

Maybe make it like a longer version of Gnome's Mini-Quest, where the characters try to get out of awkward situations?

You know, we could do those right here. In this very thread. Like so.

Tyler: "Of COURSE there's a conspiracy against lolcats. Nothing can possibly get so popular or widespread without some hate group or insurgency popping up. Normally, these sorts of groups are small, and stay to themselves, but they must've banded together this time, since Lolcats itself went entirely down. This is big, Nic. HUGE."

Nic: "Uh huh. Of course! It all makes sense, when you put it like that."

Simon: "What's a lolcats?"
