Totally doable.

That was kindof why I asked how long dreamcrafted objects lasted. I was trying to figure out if dreamcrafting a bed would have it disappear the instant Rene fell asleep, or if it would last until dawn, dumping them on the floor with the rising sun, or if it would last as long as he needed it.

We'll face it again? Why? I honestly thought that René wasn't hungry for power, actively seeking out conflict. We're doing this to protect someone? From what? What do we know about bogeymen? Why they attack others in their dreams? Anyway, what we'll do after this? We'll continue to hunt them indefinitely? Or we'll stop when we get the blood of one? Besides, shouldn't this be a really rare encounter? That's how we'll deal with that man as well? Without hearing his side of the story, without him doing anything against us? Really. I'm probably alone in this, but I don't trust in Chrysanfōs, nor have any sympathy for her. What she did wasn't only a barbaric act motivated by a stupid reason. She thinks she's right, that it's within her right to destroy and kill. She's a monster, no doubt about this.

She isn't a monster. She just isn't human. She doesn't think like a human, so she doesn't act like a human. She appears to be thousands of years old, she's bound to view things like life and death differently. There's also the matter of her face being stolen, which lessens her ability to control her emotions. Together with the fact that the way towns and cities interfere with the flow of mana through the lands causes elementals to become extremely upset/angry, I'm willing to overlook what happened as an unfortunate set of circumstances.

As for the bogeyman, I think the consensus is to mess with it because it's there. They mess with humans all the time, it's only fair.

I also think it is funny that you seem ready to hold a forgiving attitude towards bogeymen for the things they do, depending on their reasons, but Crys's actions are unforgivable despite the extenuating circumstances surrounding them.

No. 58330 ID: 4c133b

>>58323
Being human has nothing to do with it, humans can also be monsters. Without any reason, as food or survival, she consciously ignored the feelings and welfare of other life forms. Worse, she thinks that she's right in doing so. On her emotional state, she showed no remorse. For a millennia-old intelligent creature, she's extremely stupid and ignorant.

> They mess with humans all the time, it's only fair.
An eye for an eye? That's the most archaic and stupid concept of justice. I'm not being forgiving with bogeymen, I'm just unable to pass any kind of judgment. Unlike Chrysanfōs, we don't know their motive.

You're missing the point. Chrysanfos isn't human, so her moral system is entirely different. Her perception of right and wrong is different than yours. THAT is the point. You are assuming that your moral system should take precedence over hers. Let's say that you did not believe in the death penalty. Would you consider a government "extremely stupid and ignorant" for having a different moral code than you did and executing a serial killer?

Also, it's irrelevant, but 'an eye for an eye' is a cry for moderation. Before that, if someone ripped out one of your eyes, it was considered normal to kill him. His clan would then start a decades-long clan war with yours, killing hundreds of people.
>>
No. 58339 ID: 4c133b

This isn't a moral question, but whatever. Regardless of her fabulous hair, she's a bipolar bitch with semi phenomenal nearly cosmic powers. Worse, she isn't funny. That's all.

>Let's say that you did not believe in the death penalty. Would you consider a government "extremely stupid and ignorant" for having a different moral code than you did and executing a serial killer?

Well, yes. That's kind of the entire fucking point of a moral code.
>>
No. 58373 ID: e69eee

>>58343
That is actually dependant on the individual code. Many people view their perception of right and wrong as absolute and believe that it should apply to everyone. Anyone who acts against it is evil or "extremely stupid and ignorant". Others consider a moral code something that applies to themselves only and don't attempt to hold other people to their own standard. Which can be a good or bad thing for the people around them, depending on their personal beliefs.

The situation with Crys isn't so clear cut as "She killed people, she's evil". She had her face taken from her. She's trying to get it back because it is hers and without it she has difficulty controlling herself. Her search led her to the town. Towns cause elementals to flip their shit because of the mana disruption. She suffers from the aformentioned difficulties controlling herself due to lack of face. She flipped her shit. Some people died.

Yes, she is responsible for those deaths and she knew that that outcome was very likely when she went into the town, but her intention and purpose in being in that town was not murder. Even when she was killing people, they weren't her target, they just got caught in the line of fire. That doesn't make it "okay" but it should be taken into consideration when evaluating her character.

It could even be argued that her actions were for the greater good. Without her face, she is a danger to not just the people around her, but potentially the world itself. Elementals shepard the lands. An unstable elemental could cause widespread devestation before stopped. The destruction of a single town seems a reasonable risk to take facing that possibility.

Or maybe she's just a selfish, unrepentant bitch.

We don't know enough of how things work to reasonably pass judgement on her at this point.
>>
No. 58384 ID: 0c2247

Elementals are tasked with the maintenance of the planet, and towns seriously disrupt everything. When an elemental chooses to avoid a town because it would send them into a fury they are actually shirking their duties. The fact that they try to avoid towns shows that they do value human life.

Her mask is part of her self-control, which makes its loss a rather serious problem on a much larger scale. Widespread devastating effects are a bit more serious than the loss of one town.

We need more information before we can reasonably hold this against her.

Beyond that, this is also a good chance to arrange for negotiations. If there are building methods that don't have negative effects on elementals then we can prevent future conflicts. For that we need her to like Rene and value his ideas, which means we can't treat her like a monster.

> Elementals are tasked with the maintenance of the planet, and towns seriously disrupt everything.
They are? Anyway, why this occurs and how many are aware of the situation?

> Her mask is part of her self-control, which makes its loss a rather serious problem on a much larger scale.
Where was this said?

> Widespread devastating effects are a bit more serious than the loss of one town.
Now we're quantifying the value of life?

> For that we need her to like Rene and value his ideas, which means we can't treat her like a monster.

>Where was this said?

>"Like I said before, a salamander's heart is like a furnace of magic. If it gets worked up, it gets hotter, and the default is burn away everything except fire. It burns us so that we don't harm the world. Out face is part of that. Keeping things we don't want exposed closed up. Not letting our emotions lash out and hurt things we don't want hurt."

That can be read two ways. One that it only prevents the power from going out of control when emotions run high, or that it keeps the emotions themselves in better check. I and the person you're replying to seem to be reading it the second way. It does refer to the emotions themselves rather then the power they cause to manifest, so it keeping the emotions in check seems more likely to me.

>They are? Anyway, why this occurs and how many are aware of the situation?
Yea, they are.
We don't know why towns disrupt things, nor do we know if any other humans are even aware of what the problem really is.

>Now we're quantifying the value of life?
You don't need to quantify it in order to say "More people dying is worse"

>Who ever said to treat her that way?
People are condemning her here, and that bodes ill for her treatment in the quest. If suggesters consider her a monster then they're going to make suggestions based around that belief.

Okay, let's try again. What "widespread devastating effects"? You're making assumptions.

> If suggesters consider her a monster then they're going to make suggestions based around that belief.
Currently we're not acting as mediator, nor chasing that man. Preventing her from exploding is our real concern. That's why I said this isn't a moral issue. Actively antagonizing her will not repair the damage caused, nor will help us.

That's not what muscle wizards are.

Muscle wizards don't use mana, but instead possess an arsenal of deadly spells that they exercise through sheer physical presence alone. A few of the more well known spells from the Muscle Magic spellbook are sleep, disarm, and stoneskin.
>>

Then no, though mages in magic west don't use mana, and a lot of them have their magical strength basically defined by their physical abilities.

The only reason Dreamcrafters have the limitation they do, is they can't bring limitless amounts of gossamer with them when they wake up, and without that, they have nothing to manipulate.

Apart from that, though, even a low level mage like Rene could breathe fire until his lungs give out.

Some basic details about the Crow Kingdom

Crow Kingdom citizens all wear masks at all times in public. This is done as a sign of equality. The idea being that masks add a level of anonymity, that people won't be judged by their appearance. The make of the masks vary from person to person.

Visitors aren't technically required to wear a mask, but it is considered polite to do so.

Pictured here is a Crow Kingdom bird rider. Riding birds are not exclusive to the Crow Kingdom, but a lot of legendary Crow Kingdom warriors are said to use them, as well as the King's personal warriors.

Other common riding animals are horses, wolves and lizards. There are shark riders too, but Magic West doesn't take place near the ocean, so I wouldn't expect to see one show up.
>>
No. 58819 ID: bf54a8

>>58818
what about a water mage? they could bring their shark with them.
>>
No. 58821 ID: f793db

>>58819
yes, they could, but at that point, they're doing everything themselves, as the shark swims around in sea water the mage brought inland, and maintains though their own power, on top of having to feed the shark themselves and whatnot. It would be like if you brought a shark in a fish tank. It can't really go anywhere without you moving the tank for it.

A water mage who lives by the ocean and rides sharks would probably go on ocean based adventures, like being a pirate, visiting islands or distant coasts, and travel the oceans rather than going inland to the Magic West.

Yes. Sadly as much as I wish we could completely suppress our aura anyone that sees us for more then a second will know.

I feel subterfuge has worked well up to the point but its reaching the limits of luck we can hope for. We have no choice but to accept helping this prisoner for the moment to keep him from blurting out our presence(not that all prisoners are like that but he seems an opportunist to me). Having him call the guard over while we sneak around through the cell block doors seems a good way to utilize him and also test if he is trustworthy. Then its just a matter of deciding to ambush the guard or going to find our brawling blood mage.
