Grimdark exactly! I'm going to change the race anyways - it's not going to be "furrie", although some sort of a feline Mrrrshan is a nice idea. I wouldn't call it sergal armageddon, that's just a development name. My own vision about the race was really something like the xeno in Freespace 2, but that's maybe too alien, so instead of representing something incomprehensible I just suggested something very like the sergal which you all must know.

The picture tells more - the Shofixti, but does even 5% of tgchan know what that is? It wouldn't be shofixti either. Not Grimdark either, but the same idea.

Dunno if you're interested in Sergals themselves or just randomly decided to use em for your idea.
But I think they would fit in a Space Battling Quest, just not really the way you intended. For example I don't see where you have "being suicidal fighters" and " high reproduction rate" from.
There are enough people on tgchan who could tell you about "real" Sergals, if you're so inclined.

Your decision of course.

This Grimdark thing, maybe will call it the Space cave-in - It's a big solar system kind of place, which consists of a "central" white dwarf, wormholes and thousands of white dwarfs from the blown up fusion reactors of capital ships. They can be made to explode as novas sucking in entire sections of fleets with them. The place is like size of the zone between Mercurius and the Sun, it's filled with dust and wreckage from the earlier battles, so it's more like a mist than a space.

They're experts from birth in making things blow up, wreck and break into pieces. They're buying their equipment and tech from another species behind a wormhole so that they could make even bigger and more devastating explosions in space.

I thought about it. In a way I'm considering it to be something more dwarfier, maybe feline, that would suit this race better than sergals that must be somewhat clumsy and not best suited into interceptor cockpits. Sergals would maybe make perfect personnel for corvette-sized ships.

I'm considering some kind of a space cat race, that get equipment from some sort of space dwarf race mhmm.... Space Dwarf Fortress! Cat population gone bad.

Also, suggest a new name if you see daylight for this quest.

Maybe Ragnarök or "Eternal Battlefield".
On the pro side, I like the art examples and the general idea of the Quest. Space fighting would be something new at least.
But I'm not exactly sure where you're going with the details.

Maybe you should just have it a conglomerate of various races if you're not sure. Also some cybernetics, personal preference, but it would fit I'd say.

I was going to represent a war between a divided alien race. The sergals in space were just a preconcept, but what people suggested me made up my mind into a new direction of inventing my own species. I'll depict this two-split race as "frogs" and "toads". The frogs are excellent solo fighter pilots - they utilise cybernetics and space suits and populate hi-tech carriers while toads are slightly telepathic capital ship minds. They rather wield power than dexterity. Toads also prefer mass to technology.

Maybe the frogs could fly these sort of "longships" and reflect some properties of the historical vikings and this would give the quest the name Ragnarök.

The more I hear about this quest the more I like it. Ragnarok is good.

This looks pretty neat.

Make sure to have at least some of the monsters look kind of personable. I had to crank up the cute factor on Tozol a bit before I thought they'd work as a main character.

It'll be quite hard to do the Frog Wars all straight faced.
You could make em all colorful like some of the South American frogs, would help with distinguishing characters.

I also approve of the Quest, sounds certainly like something new.

The frogs are very advanced in cybernetics. They have specialised in undying. Frogs that are plugged into life support systems and combat systems are still fighting cybernetically after loosing consciousness because of lethal injuries. The mashine part is pumping new blood into their veins and keeping the tissues of the frog commandos in curable shape. Even after clinically dead these commandos fight unless their computers have been severely damaged.
