I'd like to start a quest, but I've never tried before.
Any tips ? Good ideas/bad ideas?
Anything helpful, really.

Give a few examples of your art style... maybe some estimates about how frequently you plan to update?

It would help pin down some possibilities.

My update rate would depend on the suggestion rate. I was thinking I'm gonna wait for some kind of agreement between the suggestors.
Tell me what to draw and I'll make it.

Have likable characters.
Make it as clear as you can in your art what is happening.
Make it clear what you want accomplished. Giving free reign and then expecting people to suggest something that would work is expecting too much.

Them scribbles be questworthy. Go for it.

Go for it man. You'll never know if you don't try.

It'll either be a success or you just learn something you should avoid in the future.

Besides, we're a understanding and forgiving bunch. There'll be always somebody who manages to take at least a bit if interest in a quest.

It's a win-win sit.

Fine, I'm going to make it. Working on a map and setting everything. The name is going to be Warbirds Quest.

In my experience, there's no one single factor which will guarantee a good quest. But, if i had to choose, I'd say the most important single element is to have Sergals in it.

Or a gobbo. Or a bunny. Or a cat. Or a cutebold.

Yeah, we pretty much hate humans.

Start in a box. That tends to work too.

Also, hugs and notes man.

The Romans had bread and games, we want our hugs and notes.

Personally I'm not a great drawfag and actually am downright terrible at it when it comes to computer art. Would a more textual quest work?

Also, it would be less choose what happens and more what the players are doing. Something like a play by post scenario.

Textquests are possible, and there are a few, but they tend to get significantly fewer suggestions. Not sure the rules on a play-by-post. You mean like a typical tabletop RPG played with a character per person on a forum/board?

I recently started my quest thread if you could not tell. I'll try doing some mock ups for major events but I hardly can promise anything good.

I have also been considering finally trying to do a quest. It would be done with my goddawful shitscribbles but it would be about as serious as early dorfquest, so the bad art wouldn't be such a big deal, I think.

It would be titled ScienceQuest (OP's pic related). You are either a scientist or an intern on an enormous orbital research station. Your ability to engineer crazy-ass shit is somewhere between "Webcomic garage mad scientist mary sue" and "oh my god what the fucking fuck". /quest/-userbase-induced shenanigans ensue.
