Brilliance, sheer brilliance.

Any quest with an 88th century victorian octopus named Lord Octopuissant is automatically brilliant.

So, I'm not alone in the belief that we should make Assault and Battery into the avatar of speed and power, a quintessence of the concept of the lightning bruiser, if you will, am I?
>>
No. 2505 ID: 6164e0

The part that gets me is the fact that strictly speaking, despite appearing polite and proper, is actually very thug-like, when you consider that the Victorian era mannerisms seem to be a common theme in the future.

I love it.

To this end, we need to acquire super strength at the first available opportunity.

Oh shit that should be Lord Octopuissance.

...Well at least I got my inevitable failure out of the way first thing! I'm off. I should be back tomorrow, but no garuntees.
>>

I'm just going to jump straight into the moronic speculation here...

Lord Octopuissance can travel through time, that much we know. While we don't know how exactly this works, we can probably assume that he could have gone back in time and killed A&B's grandparents by now, but he hasn't; thus, we can assume that he isn't completely evil, or at least he's a good sport. In fact, he said himself that he's simply in this for the shits n' giggles.

In accordance with Octo's shits n' giggles statement, I'm fully expecting Lord Octopuissance to come back from the future soon, not to attack the city, but to simply fuck with A&B. Think Rastin-like, but a little less asshole-ish.

And, I'll say it again; SuperQuest is pretty damned awesome. I'm not sure what it is, but the whole thing just makes me happy. You could even say that it causes a stirring in my loins.

We have moderate super strength and moderate super speed to go with the electrical powers. I say we just keep grinding the three, and become some sort of herculean thunder god.

FUCK YES, THEN ALL NE'ER-DO-WELLS SHALL TREMBLE IN FEAR OF BEING CAUGHT IN THEIR DASTARDLY ACTS BY THE POWERFUL ASSAULT AND BATTERY, MAN OF THUNDER, DEFENDER AND CHAMPION OF VOLT CITY.

We don't have super strength. We took invulnerability. We are no stronger than your typical human.

We need to work on this.
>>
No. 2541 ID: 6164e0

>>2514
Oh really? I had been operating under the assumption we had moderate super-strength, not moderate invulnerability this whole time.

Well shit yeah we need to get something to boost our strength, be it super-soldier serum, gritty training, radiation, magic, cybernetics or some other shit. HOW ELSE CAN WE BE A LIGHTNING BRUISER!?
>>
No. 2543 ID: 6164e0

SHIT I JUST THOUGHT OF SOME CRAZY AWESOME WAY TO TRAIN UP SPEED, INVULNERABILITY AND ELECTRICAL POWERS ALL AT ONCE!

CATCH LIGHTNING IN STORMS! MAKE A CHALLENGE TO TRY AND KEEP AS MANY BOLTS AS POSSIBLE FROM DOING DAMAGE OR STRIKING FULLY, AND EARN SOME MORE RESPECT FOR HELPING OUT! IT IS FLAWLESS!

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the paper doll thread or this thread, but it actually has something to do with the quest, so I guess it goes here!

If you have a fantastic idea for a costume update for any of the characters, feel free to suggest it! If I think it's cool and it's easy to draw quickly, I have no problem adding it to the quest. You can also take a crack at designing the costumes for two heroes that haven't been introduced yet. Here's a costume template. You can do other paperdoll shenanigans as well, if you like.

Remember, don't scare the children!

And yes, Prismatica is that tiny.
>>

Also, don't get too dedicated to the idea of min/maxing A&B. It would be a very short quest if he were Zeus, God of thunder.

Actually Zeusquest would be awesome. But you get what I mean.

How do you feel about creative applications of powers?

For instance, Assault and battery has super speed (medium). This means he can move significantly faster than any normal human could. This also means he can kick/punch faster too. These punches/kicks, even if not backed by super strength, will be traveling at sufficient speeds that the force imparted on impact is going to be much higher than normal, thanks to said speed.

While this usually would be countered by having said speedster's hands/feet rip apart from the forces involved (pending speedforce), Assault and Battery has medium invulnerability. Meaning his body should hold up to such impacts.

Basically, Because of the combination of powers Assault and Battery has, he should be ably to punch/kick close to as forcefully as a character with super strength, and do it faster. However, this would in no way let him lift heavy objects, just hit things hard. This could then be further improved with Electrical discharge.

Strictly speaking, Assault and Battery's powers should make him highly capable at hand to hand combat.

But if you don't want stuff like that entering into SuperQuest, I can dig that too. I am just trying to get a sense for what kind of rules we are working with here.

I am pretty sure everything you just said is the reason he has a THUNDER PAUNCH special attack.

But with the super speed, it should be some sort of crazy combo (or at least there is no reason it couldn't be), like some kind of Fist of the North Star or some JoJo style ORAORAORAORAORAORAORA dealie.

Mix in slapping on some plastic explosive. An electrical charge should set it off, superspeed will conceal the act, and from then on we have a Quivering Palm set on them.
Other than that, yeah, look up strikes to keep them off balance; a rain of those should keep things busy until we can think of something else.
Also, needles into major nerve centers for targeting with lightning.
How accurate is A&B?
>>
No. 2608 ID: 6164e0

>>312407
...Well, I don't know if that would be necessary, and superheroes don't usually make much money, so affording C4 might be a bit tough.

I mean, just being able to reach speeds where Assault and Battery can run UP a wall (not indefinitely, but still) would put the PSI of his speedy punches/kicks in the dozens of tons, way more powerful than a world class athlete ever could achieve, and be able to throw them out much faster than someone with just super-strength could.

I'm serious, It seems like Assault and Battery's powers are absolutely ideal for..... assault and battery.

.....dammit.
>>
No. 2609 ID: 43d730

>>312408
That's another thing.
Wouldn't superspeed and invulnerability work out to superstrength on the punching end anyway?
>>
No. 2610 ID: 6164e0

>>312409
exactly what I have been saying.

It (seems like it) should work out to super strength for punching/kicking, maybe even leaping, but would not help out heavy lifting at all, since his body is geared towards rapid, explosive movement, not sustained strain.

Wrap people in wires and electrify them.
Dump water on them.
Needles for rubber suits, metal-dust smokebombs to increase conductivity...
Can we kitbash the power into slight magnetic effects?

I know this would be expensive, but I prefer to have the tools at hand for any given task.

Hey, if it works for batman it should work for anyone. I see no reason to not use simple tricks to augment what we could already do.
>>

>>312415
But Batman has angst! And supersecretninjatraininglol.

I second the use of utilities to augment supernatural abilities. Also, electric current generates a magnetic field. That doesn't rely on super powers, that's just physics.
>>
No. 2617 ID: 43d730

>>312416
That's what I was suggesting. See if we can't find an application for that.
It might be too unfocused to sustain a magnetic field for a useful length of time.
>>
No. 2626 ID: 01383e

guys, I don't think you're quite getting it. we won't be able to do a jojo ORAORAORAORA at all- any superspeed punch we give will either A. stop us and send them flying, if we're at a considerable speed, B. send both parties both flying if we're at near equal masses, or C. send assault and battery flying backwards, if he hits something of a larger mass than him or it's charging him.

Basically, we get one punch with this before we have to run up for another, unless we're using kid's gloves.

Brace with leg and let invunerability do the work. Punch them into a wall until the wall breaks.
It's all in the setup.
Also, Superspeed to steal or plant small items.
>>
No. 2629 ID: 01383e

>>312428
a lot of that setup sounds like it involves rampant property damage.

are we okay with this? some superheroes are, some aren't.

Tell me if anything's wrong with this.
The green lines are force being expressed by punching, and the red lines are the kickback from punching at such a speed.
The wavy green lines show a loss of force as they pass into the body of the unfortunate target and are communicated into the wall.
The ground around A&B's feet might get a little damaged from the kickback, but not too badly.
Also, remember to try pressure tricks with the superspeed.
>>
No. 2632 ID: 43d730

>>312431
And it should go without saying that this is only for use against hard targets.
A simple tasering should work on anything soft.
>>
No. 2633 ID: 01383e

>>312431
that looks like it would work, but I think you underestimate the amount of damage the ground would take. basically all the damage the villain takes- maybe spread out over two impact areas, for two feet. Unless we're hitting a lot less hard than I imagine.

I'm hoping the invulnerability will eat some of it up...

I wish to put priority on discovering the origin of this power so as to better utilise it.
>>
No. 2635 ID: 01383e

>>312434
the invulnerability would only do that if it works on some kind of energy dampening system... or if you flexed under blows and popped right back... or if you healed fast enough to be invulnerable...

okay, yeah, let's find out the origins here, they're important.
>>
No. 2636 ID: ea9bdd

Guys, seriously. If you work out A & B to be some sort of almighty titan, you cut out great swathes of what I can throw at you during the quest. I'm all for creative application of powers, but I'd prefer it to be during the quest itself that the application comes up.

As for gadgets, Josie is no Q, but she'll be able to give you something to go on. Don't expect Batman's utility belt.

Lastly, keep in mind that I'm working by comic book physics, which means that if it furthers the story the laws of science can go fuck themselves.

Lastly lastly, I'll be on the quest a little later.

Sorry, just preparedness instinct.
For a basic toolkit:
Three (3) lengths of braided wire, with small weights on the ends of about ten to fifteen feet. All-metal construction.
At least ten (10) small needles of varying lengths, metal.
Two (2) or three (3) packets of iron filings.
Liquid we can kitbash, and everything else I can think of for eventualities is too high-tech or expensive.
Second question: Can we arc-weld?
>>
No. 2639 ID: 01383e

>>312438
>can we arc weld

of COURSE we can arc weld, what a stupid question.

that is, if we take some welding classes first.

otherwise, we'll be mostly bad at it.

I meant with the ability to shoot lighting from A&B's hands.
Although it would be funny to figure out how it works by taking a mundane class.
