This is mostly incomplete, but this is what most of them look like on some level.

The bar might extend out more, I might add more details, there's a noticable error in the bar that will be corrected later, so on, so forth.

well then for art i would say it's pretty good. maybe you could art up some of the others?

>>324054
Nope.

The issue is that if I start as arted, then that's fine. Mordecai there will always look like that in my head.

Unfortunately, I could never ever draw, say, Rosie, accurate to how she is in my head.

actually, no. draw her anyway. doesn't matte how good an artist you are i can guarantee you will be dissatisfied with your work. you could draw the freaking Mona-Lisa and you would still nitpick about it.

No, I'm fine with Mordie up there. You see, I feel I can paint a better picture with words, so I generally do.

But people want an arted quest, so this will start as soon as Alchemist is done.

Well since he is a bard, will there be lots of people coming after him and demanding that he help take care of the kids?

Other than that, well would be nice if he is atleast halfway competent with some weapons.

The mechanics for bards in Bardicverse revolve around emotions and songs, as should be appaerent. However, most interesting is how Bards use magic to augment thier songs, and what the effects entail.
Bards have five Auras they can evoke:

Combat: Hastens the perceptions of allies nearby, pumps their blood faster, forces their body to really squeeze the adrenalin glands.

Competence: Allows a greater amount of focus, memory, and motor control.

Aid: Protects allies with sound and allows them to defend themselves better by using the same effects of the Combat aura.

Repose: Knits shut small wounds, softens pain, and lessens the symptoms of disease.

Sanguine: Makes foes less likely to attack, and confuses them.

Each aura is evoked by the Bard's Companion Spirit inspiring them to song, and the song decides the aura based on the Bard's perception of it. Some songs may evoke feelings of anger and rage (Combat) others, happiness and tranquility (Repose). As Bards use an aura more and more, it grows in power, magnifying the effects, and sometimes adding more.

Postan character sheet for Miss Farah:

Misstress Farah the Untouchable
Farah is a median-power abjurist, a specialist in defensive magics. These mostly protect from other magic an forms of elemental energy, but can also protect against some physical attacks. Due to the nature of Abjuration being made for concepts and mystic dangers, however, physical attacks will still harm the caster a great deal. Farah uses the Voiceless Chant to cast, powering spells with her mental voice and granting them more power the longer she can 'charge' a spell, up to three ranks of effectiveness. However, while these spells are generally more potent than the same ones cast with Wandcrafting and Voice Of The Weave, they take far longer to cast at all, and are harder to retain in combat.
Spells:
Protection from Fire and Anger: Weaving the concept of fires and anger together, Farah can protect herself ably from many mundane assaults. Rank 1 will push fire away from her as if a gentle breeze was blowing out from her, putting out candle flames but not much anything larger, and slightly affecting the trajectory of ballistic fire spells. Furthermore, rank 1 will calm irritated people. Rank two pushes fires away as if they were in a stiff breeze, snuffing out anything up to and less than a torchflame, and outright cancelling weak ballistic fire attacks, altering the course of stronger ones and mildly dampening the effects of powerful blasts or orbs. Rank 2 will calm angry emotions. Rank three puts out a medium-sized campfire, and turns away many spells of her level in power. Furthermore, enemies may forget why they are attacking her, should they be doing so due to anger.

Mage Armor: A simple layer of entropic energy centered on the caster, it acts like a barrier of gel, the greater the rank, the thicker and more solid it becomes.
Rank 1 will slow arrows and bolts.
Rank 2 will nearly stop arrows and bolts, and slow weapons.
Rank 3 will stop arrows, bolts, and weapons. In all ranks, the field is an inch thick.

Mindlock: The only offensive spell besides Redirect Farah knows, Mindlock forcibly seperates the higher and lower functions of the mind. Speaking bluntly, it regresses a sentient being's intellect to an animal's for a short period of time. Higher ranks increase the time this lasts. Should this regression be too much, the victim will fall into shock, becoming almost helpless.

Redirect: This dangerous spell returns damage dealt to Farah to the attacker. However, Farah will still suffer the damage of the original blow, but higher ranks amplify this damage to astounding levels, from a dagger wound to limb severance.

She was casting Protection from Fire and Anger, and Mindlock. Mindlock was the blue spell and neither had yet to reach rank one.

Oh yeah, here's something I'd like to know:

Can you explain in detail how the inspiration system works?
>>

>>326557
Inspirations are essentially the main service that Legion provides to Mordecai, the greatest benefit he can gain from it. In essence, Legion uses its immortal knowledge and infinite wisdom (read: da inturwabs) to grant him knowledge of great music. This music is then determined to 'belong' to one of the Elder Songs, which determines what it mechanically does. There are some songs I've personally decided already as to what they would do, and others which i've decided will grant Minor Inspirations, which improve the auras he can manifest normally with his instrument and performance. You can designate songs to be minor in your post to empower an aura, or you can try to get an inspiration out of it.

Here's a rundown of the Elder Songs and their preferences.

Farnle: HEAVY METAL usually works for the Song of rage and war. Content usually has a lot of vulgarity or is incredibly high-tempo and loud.

Nysta: Upbeat, cheerful, happy songs. Nysta also prefers slower songs and female vocalists.

Hrya: Sad, emotional, and songs about love and loss are what Hrya prefers.

Oosa: Songs you can really DANCE to, high tempo but not in your face, and so forth.

Sorfan: Mostly classical music, instrumentals, and long, long 'artistic' peices.

I don't presume that all music falls under these 5, but I will decide on the spot for your inspirations under these five.

What does "day" mean? An in-game day, or 24 hours real-time?

Mordecai must rest for 8 hours before Inspiration strikes again.

Also, Inspiration isn't something that can happen all the time: You need a certain 'feel' or 'moment' for it to happen, too.

You've recalled your psionic power in this world! Psionics in this world is power harnassable only by very powerful Demigods, Dragons, and Beatforgers. As such, you may find it slightly harder to manifest these abilities in this world. Here are the following powers you now have:

Command: 1d100+1, 10 influence, 20 to use it on host. . Upon success, the target will follow a simply one-word suggestion you make to them, barring ones that would clearly and irrevocably end their lives.

Stomp: 1d100+10, 15 influence. A blast of psychic power shakes the ground around the host, sending foes to their faces and knees.

Vigor: 1d100 + current Influence. Throws the body of the host into wild overdrive, sending them into a wild state of berserk. They will not attack friends, but they will not hold back in the slightest and will not stop until the target is dead or they are. Drains all influence.

Influence can be checked with a simple statement of "influence check" spoilered.

Influence recovery depends on host.

I suppose it's time for more EXPOSITION.

Blood magic is an ancient and powerful magical art, even older and simpler than the Nine Schools. It is possibly the first art, since every human can learn it, while not all can enter the Nine Schools. To understand blood magic, you must understand that every creature in the world has a bit of the Song that wove the world within them. This bit serves to define the creature, giving them abilities and other such things that set them apart as a race.

Blood mages amplify the Song that rests within a creature, and imbibe the result. Upon doing so, they may focus on a specific aspect of the creature to give themselves. This new power comes at a cost. Generally, physical enhancements (More strength, new, special limbs or organs, new physical abilities) sap mental characteristics, and vice versa. A neophyte to blood magic does not know exactly what they will lose, but extended preparation can result in an accurate 'feel' for the result.

As time passes and more infusions are imbibed, the person's original race begins to fade, and they become a new, seperate race that actually breeds true: Bloodkin. No two bloodkin are alike, all of them a strange mish-mash of various races and abilities. Also, as they imbibe more blood, they begin to gain new abilities, seperate of the blood and inherent to them.

>1 infusion: Sanguine knowledge
>3 infusions: Blackened blood
>5 infusions: Bloodsight
>7 infusions: Blood Cauldron (special ability)
>10 infusions: Bloodkin, increased stats, enhanced infusions

Sanguine knowledge, the only blood ability that Mordecai has, allows him to learn facts about a creature whose blood is spilled. The knowledge gain is instant and in the background, and is regarded as if it had always been known.

Some further clarifications: Human blood offers no benefits other than an Infusion.

You cannot use your own blood.

You cannot use the blood of the same person multiple times.

The blood required for a sample usually kills the one it is taken from.

Wait, hold on...

So embedding videos either:

- gives us a new aura
- empowers an existing aura
- or gives us a new spell

I am mildly confused.

>>329894
Yes, all three.

Basically, you're acting as inspiration for Nordecai:
Specific songs I've chosen beforehand (it's a long list) will give you new Songs that do specific things.
Songs that align with a specific Song God power up or unlock their Aura.
Other songs power up aspects of said aura.

>like exactly how long we have been gone, the inbetween is a kinda hard place to keep track of time. and a quick rundown of how everyone has been.

You've been gone for about ten years, roughly. Time can flow differently in different universes, mind. Everyone's been missing you, but they're getting along well enough.

My kid's doing swell, and shows a lot of talent in combat, as well as runic magic. I'm proud as any father has a right to be, which is to say, infinitely.

Rosie and her bunch are doing well. Would you believe she decided to become a bard? She collected all the stories of the world, so to speak, talking with her father and brother and myself, even with Achilles and Tyka. She's doing swell.

Hattori is doing just fine, and Ella passed away some three months ago. Hattori said that it was like her body got tired of waiting. She got a grand funeral, of course.

Hmmm... who does that leave...

Oh, Achilles and Tyka had an adorable little girl. He's doing well, and restoration of his lands has finished.

Yorick is happy ruling the Dead in Hell. Whatshisface, the guy what got Rosie, passed on his duty to Yoshi to become a family man. He's a little akward, but he tries very hard.

Anyone else you want to know about?

SO GUYS. I'm thinking we cleave through the beam of death and try to pierce the weird disc thingy with our sword of might.

I estimate our chance of failure at 255.9%

Any better ideas? I'm tempted to have her get our of the way and flank but then our squishy wizard would get fried.
