>Miss Petra, while I cannot break a vow of secrecy, from both myself or another, I also do not like to lie, and have no intentions of doing so.
On our trip here, we spotted what seemed to be a Roc, and fled into the forest to avoid being spotted. While off the trail, we encountered the corpse of a poor soldier of the Unquenchable Flame, who was slain by a group of Red Caps. After slaying the demons, we checked the man's body for evidence of who he was and what happened, and happened to find a letter containing the man's orders, as well as another letter, addressed to the Father, attached.
The orders said to bring the letter, and a certain object, to Father Grimdoom, as well as to not open them. I percieve such orders as a request of secrecy, and will honor them, and so I have not opened his letter, and will not be telling you what the object was.
>Tell her you need to talk to him about a dead knight. Don't mention a delivery, she will try to take it from you. Don't mention the blood either.
>Tell her the same thing you told the guard. Found a dead knight, read the unsealed letter, the delivering sealed letter (if she asks we can truthfully say we didn't open it). If she asks abut if he was delivering something we can say that he had a large vial with him but it had broken.
>Lie or be obtuse to garner more information from her. In this case, do not remain on the back foot. Counter questions with cutting remarks of your own. Why is a brothel madame so concerned with an errand of the church's? Ludwig is a holy man, of impeccable character, supposedly, and this concerns him, not her, unless she has a good reason to speak for him... and why would she?
>Explain honestly, but keep details to a minimum until pressed. Allow her to reveal hints of her own agenda in the form of follow-up questions.
Whatever she is able to do, it's only against phisical movements. You don't feel compelled to tell her everything, but you prefer to at least give her most of the base information. It's always better to not make a creature able to turn you into stone angry.
You start explaining what happened to you and your companions, how you faced monsters while coming here for another thing. You can't not notice a small twitch in her eyebrows and mouth when you mention Alaiv's presence.
You then tell her about the knight and the letter. You show her the opened bloodied one, which she reads quickly and puts back on the table. You then tell her that there is another letter and a package and that you preferred to give it directly to Grimdoom. And you say you wanted to do that mostly to see how the person look like and if there was anything fishy.
