>Should his shoulder be charred in reality but not in the reflection?
Err… it is charred? It’s a mirror, it mirror things… so you’re probably confusing his good shoulder, the one closes to the mirror, with his charred one.
>it would be incredibly unlikely Eliraz can even have children.
Do you really need to bring this up all the time? Yes, I’m sterile and yes, we’ve talked about this before.
>On a side note. Marrying cousins is not universally seen as incest.
It might not be illegal, but it’s still a bit… frowned about… at least among the common people.
>I do feel kinda bad for Elizah having to marry her cousin, though. Are there no suitably powerful fire mages out there that aren't closely related she could pursue?
It’s just as much about politics as it is about the blood.
>How do you fight these things, because if we're dealing with a big one, we're gonna want more than just what we can figure out is good and not good to do.
Wraiths? Well, you destroy whatever body they have possessed, of course. They can’t stay in the mortal realm for long without it, lad. As for daemons… well… you run. You run, hide, cry, maybe tinkle a bit in your pants and then you pray to whatever gods you believe in that it doesn’t find you before it’s time is up.
Can’t you fight it?
As far as I’ve ‘eard they can’t be killed, harmed or even slowed down by anything short of a gods direct intervention. But luckily, they can’t stay in our world for very long… so run. That’s the only advice I can give ye.
>Tell Temrock about the vildman we encountered.
Hmm… yes, the vildmen are a strong believer of dying free… or just dying out of spite.
>"mind of living is feast, mind of broken is vessel, mind of unbroken is servant."
Ah yes, that’s an old… I shouldn’t call it a nursery rhyme but… let’s see if I can remember it… “They come to feed, swarm to feast, scratching on the inside of your mind until only madness remains… consuming you from within… err… something something coming darkness consuming the world something death of the gods something… um… the minds of those who still lives will be a feast for their gluttony, the minds of those that’s passed, those that are broken will be their vessels with which they will walk upon the mortal world and the minds of the dead brought back, the unbroken will be servants, made to serve their terrific ways as they beget terror upon the world.” …and they there’s something in the end about order, light and everything turning out alright… the whole sunshine and lollipops kind of deal.
>I think this guard might be brain-dead.
There is a possibility, yes. You’re lucky you have your magical blood to protect you, lad and lass… and I guess the others are lucky they ran out of the room in their fear. Otherwise they too might have ended up like this poor sod.
So he isn’t possessed?
Unless he dies, no. A wraith can only possess a corpse… a non-living corpse, that is to say, not undead either.
…But it just di-
I’m pretty sure if you check the paperwork with the temple you’ll find that this mummy wasn’t raised, but was made to be buried.
>Okay, so wraiths are necromantic, right? If so then get Tera in here to get a sense of it and also call for a master necromancer to be brought in right away.
Well… I think so? We’ve never had a lot of necromancers… at least not legal one, up in the north.
And we haven’t had a lot of wraiths down here…
I… I can go and fetch Tera if you w-want…
>Should we burn the body?
That’s what I’m suggesting, lad… at least if you want to be on the safe side. Of course, the necromancers can’t really do their job if you do… Oh, and get someone to look over the poor guard. He might yet be saved… at least parts of him…
Insert Burn or not to burn, that is the question_
