Your sister has the privilege of riding in a carriage. You don't. Besides, if you wanted to go the shorter way, you'd have to go through town. And you're not really a fan of crowded places

All right, good that we're back on shore. About how much further to your sister's house? If we're close enough to see, you may want to start watching for ratlike things. Better safe than sorry and all that.

A little sociopathic, aren't we? No wonder we talk to ourselves.

So what's the drawback to taking the scenic route, anyway? Besides, you know, it being longer.

Well, let's head off then. Make it to your sister's place quickly so we can be off. Just be careful, that voice seems pretty active lately.

You're not a sociopath, at least when the voice is quiet. The voice isn't just some ugly mental personality you developed in your head. It's... a living being. It inhabits your thoughts, your mind.

You tie the boat to a tree, then change clothes with Cedric. After a few minutes of walking you spot your sister's home.

>"What's your sister like, Rella? I don't think you've ever really mentioned her."

You tell Cedric she's... nice, you guess. She's rather scatterbrained, though. She's also not someone you should really trust with anything, especially with personal belongings.
>>
No. 461918 ID: 86c3a7

Hey, we're living beings too! Well, if you want to call what we're doing living. (I kid, I kid). But on the plus side: if that once voice is independent of you, that's sort of a good thing. A psychic attack is somewhat more reassuring than actually going crazy. ...even if that's what he's trying to do to you.

Let's go in and get your stuff back.

What's the plan, anyways? Are we staying the night? Or are you planning on rafting back in the dark? (Hopefully the return trip is downstream, since you were paddling before).

Or sharp objects, like your ruby knife... Though, you shouldn't really have that it at hand with that voice in your head either, so... Maybe have Cedric hold it for you while you're around your annoying sister, just in case.

Come to think of it, you never did mention why you came all the way out here to Cedric, did you? Tell him that your sister came out to your place and took your prized ruby knife, from its secret compartment, while you were asleep, and you're here to get it back.

Let your sister know that borrowing your shit without asking is disrespectful of you and your boundries and completely unacceptable. You're not even sure if you should just give her a visit like that, even if she's making that face to coerce you into staying, thanks to this whole situation. It's immoral, and completely wrong to do to family. And this whole manipulative puppy dog eyes shit is also unacceptable. Tell her to never do these things again to you, or else you'll just come back for your stuff and never talk to her again no matter her protests or attempts. She'd break a familial contract.
Let the confident chump know that his boner would be made quite flaccid real quick because you know how exactly to do that to a disrespectful male. Painfully. And Quickly.

It's also becoming clear that you were being very literal that your sister's all the things you aren't. Especially in the mentality department. Slim and busty, yes, though you've definitly got a much better butt. Don't think Cedric hasn't noticed, either. I'm sure he got just as good of an eyefull as we did.
With her bustline and ditziness, I doubt this is the first douchebag she's attracted, either. I'm starting to suspect that's she's gotten into a bad relationship and has only you to help her get out of it. That being why she stole your ruby knife.
Anyway, analysis done. Give your sister a glare that's even parts "are you going to get around to introductions some time today?" and "You gotta be kidding me."

--exactly the same way Shoutybutt wants him to.
Then fix Manchester with another glare and ask testily, "Was that an innocent mistake, or are you in the habit of poisoning guests?"
>>

If Cedric looks to be about to take a swig, stick your hand over his mug.

Say you said "don't drink it." Then add that not only are rat bits in the beer unhygienic, Brie mentioned that she put down rat poison for them. Do all this while giving Manchester such a Look, even he'll flinch.

Priorities:

3. Get Cedric out alive.
4. Now that he's actually done something worthy of it (endangering Brie, yourself, and an innocent bystander) consider shanking the hell out of Manchester. Letting Miss Her do it instead is an acceptable substitution.

Bonzi kinda hates your guts because of something that happened six years ago. But that's not important now.

Right now you need to figure out how to get to your KNIFE so you can fight her off and protect Brie and Cedric.

Your RUBY KNIFE should be pretty effective if you're fast enough. Just have to make sure you don't get hit, and to lead her away from the house.

All right. Time to think tactically. She's immensely strong, but bulky. She can't be that fast. Counter with speed of your own, as you've said. Teamwork will work, if you can distract her. Try calling to Bonzi "If you chase me, Manchester will get away!" and circle around through...whatever room you're in to the room you were in, and get the ruby knife. A yell of, "Brie! Cedric! Run! She's not after you!" will probably help get them out of danger.

First things first, get on your feet, and out of this room any other way then the hole you came through.

Now, can you roughly guess if Bonzi will come for you over Manchester? 'Cause if she will, you've got to play keep-away until him, Brie and Cedric get out of the house.

Grab a handful of that pile of plaster dust and rubble. You can throw that into Bonzi's eyes if she gets too close.

The final destination for all of you should be your boat, if you'll all fit. Get out over open water, and Bonzi will have to swim to get to you, which will slow her down. If you all won't fit, have Cedric head back to your place through town, along with Brie.

Kick off from her head like a springboard. This puts you well out of the way of her counterattack. Then, I'm chiming in to add that a priority target should be at least one set of her hamstrings. It's a good disabling move, and with her size both them and the achilles tendon is a fairly easy target. The trick will be getting behind her, but in her case it seems like going in under her reach should get you some space.

Taunt Bonzi into charging you while you're standing in front of the exterior wall. She's so heavy that once she gets up to speed, she isn't going to be able to turn on a dime. Dodge out of the way right before she's in grabbing or hitting range, and she'll plow into the stonework; Take a slice of opportunity, if you get one. Then run upstairs, taunting and shouting insults the whole way. You know Bonzi from before, so if you know what pushes her buttons, use that.

Do not anger Rella any longer, you will not like what that will bring if she becoems desperate enough, she'll lose control of herself, and maybe murder everyone. When you try to attack her again, think about more than your anger against her, because that puts more people at risk. Whatever, whoever your master was, think she'd like this shit? Think she'd like you inspiring a young fat pink imp into berserker madness that would kill an entire village or more for your simple grudge? Would you kill 100 innocent people for your vengeance? Because I guarantee you that may happen when Rella loses control.

Leaving her and getting out of dodge is acceptable. Putting her down is a lot more grey, but potentially acceptable if letting her live isn't safe. Egregious torture is just unacceptable.

>egregious
I've browsed tvtropes so much that by now I reflexively interpret egregious into its second meaning "remarkably good" out of spite. Heh.

Anyways, can we kill her, THEN skin her? Because she is seriously incredibly dangerous. According to your own theories, she's given in to Shouty and she still has 2 pieces of uber armor. The very least we ca sensibly do is take the armor off or kill her.

I, oddly enough, am of the opinion that everyone involved would prefer to do something called "let her live". Regrettably, that involves skinning her.

As far as I can tell, you want to kill her because you don't want to get your hands dirty, which is kind of hypocritical and not a very good reason at all.

So either spare her and find *some* way of unequipping that armor or just kill a helpless foe after she's been beaten.

Sure, we could just leave her there, and she *might* be able to get out by herself, but I doubt anyone would be willing to help her, and I have a feeling that doing so is tantamount to giving her a slow death via dehydration.

Skinning her is honestly the most merciful sensible choice we have.

Oh, and what do those bracer thingies we saw earlier do?
>>
No. 468270 ID: 3338b5

You're making the assumption that removing the cursed item would make her significantly less of a threat. That it's the source of her power or something. It probably isn't- meaning torturing her has no upside.

The merciful option is to either to talk her down, or just leave her in the hole and leave.

>>468187
Do you have any concept of how painful removing someone's skin is? It would be more merciful to kill her! Besides, she's super mega huge and is probably in contact with the other members of The Five. If we let her live she is still dangerous and can bring much more dangerous people to attack us and our friends.

We have to deal with her permanently. Rella, is there a prison nearby or something? If you're not going to kill her, we need to keep her somewhere she can't do any harm.
>>
No. 468287 ID: 049858

Before we go too far, it's interrogation time. You have a number of things to find out from Bonzi, not the least of which is the status of the rest of The Five.
Cedric will, by now, have some idea what you were talking about when you mentioned that it was dangerous to be around you. Expect that you have just picked up a devoted sidekick.
After you're done with your questions, *then* have Brie summon the proper authorities, whoever they are. I'm sure I don't need to tell you to be gone by then.
Manchester deserves a beating for endangering your sister like this. However, you are a better person than that. I would recommend instead getting a hammer and some pennies, and trying to beat some cents into his head. If you can find him, that is. I wouldn't be surprised if he either 1) headed for the hills, or 2) was watching and doing something unspeakable while the two of you fought it out.
Also, when Bonzi says you took away what made your master alive, is she referring to Shoutyface, over there? *points* I can see a twisted perception making him/it seem that way. I suspect, instead, that it was a matter of lifting a curse from her and containing it within yourself.

The Voice didn't necessarily control any of you, at least not back then. What the Voice did was lower your sense of mercy; you began to care less for your fellow person and more for the thrill of ending said person's life. But in the end, you were still aware of everything you did.

Every life you took. Every family you had destroyed.

The only reason you (and to your knowledge, Bonzi) aren't being pursued by any authorities is because back when you were a member of The Five, there was a large war. You were paid by opposing sides to kill, so technically there's no legal folly in that, at least during wartime.

You managed to escape that life and lay low because of what your master did all those years ago, Number One...

But that doesn't matter now. You don't want to kill or skin Bonzi. You do agree, however, that she is a threat, and that it wouldn't be wise to leave her in this hole. Unfortunately, you can't take her to a prison because she isn't technically breaking any rules. The way society works is that if you owe someone money, you are now at their mercy until you pay them what you owe. Manchester is too much of an idiot to remember this.

You call Brie over, but tell her to keep her distance from Bonzi, to be safe.

>"Mozzy, you're okay! I was so worried! Oh gosh, your clothes are ruined, and look at that shiner!"

You tell her you're fine, for the most part. You just need to rest.

You notice Bonzi watching with interest.

>"So, your sister is fine after all this time, then? Good, though I don't know how she can care for a monster like you. Gregga told me that you were hiding somewhere, but none of us knew where. After all this time, I found you... but I couldn't make you pay for what you di-"

No need for that, I'm not a quitter. I agree that it's worth a try to attempt to convince Bonzi what really happened with you and your master. Echoing cutting down her hot rage with some cold truth, as one of the others said.
Perhaps Shouty can be convinced to give up a code phrase or something. I do NOT recommend letting him take over even to provide some bona fides.
If Gregga has the information that you're in this area, odds are good Bonzi isn't the only one she's shared it with. Yes, go ahead and reveal us to Brie and Bonzi. Although it may not seem like it, this is an ideal opportunity. You have spared Bonzi, and are even talking her down. You have just proven that Shouty doesn't control you. I expect Brie to freak out at this point, so be ready to talk her down, too. She needs to know the truth, and understand that while Shoutyface is still in here, you've got it under control. Confort her as neccessary.

You ask Cedric if this is true.

>"Well, yes... but only because he endangered your l-life! I had to teach him a lesson! Or...I t-t-tried to..."

You give Cedric a nasty glare. What are you going to do with him? Or Manchester, for that matter. You can't really kill Manchester, much as you like to. For some reason you can't understand, he makes Brie happy, plus he owes money to Bonzi. Killing him isn't fair to either of them.

You're pretty sure Manchester isn't abusive towards Brie. You made sure of that.

And as for how you dealt with the voice for the first few years... it was a rough time...

But anyway, back to Manchester and Cedric. You tell Manchester he needs to pay Bonzi back.

>"I... don't have enough money"

What?

>"Idon'thaveenoughmoney."

Hm?

>"I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY! I'm only able to afford this place on my dad's money."

Oh right, Manchester's father. Apparently he's a big shot up in the Higher Lands. He gives his son money so he doesn't fuck up, but you honestly think the MONEY might be the problem.

You tell Manchester he needs to pay Bonzi back somehow.

You consider Manchester's options. You could tell him that he should convince his father to pay off his debt, but that would affect Brie, since Manchester uses his father's money to take care of her as well as himself. So that's out of the picture.

The other options are to have Manchester work for Bonzi to pay off his debt, or to have Bonzi live in his home rent-free. You don't know if Bonzi needs assistance -- especially from someone as coniving as Manchester -- but it's worth a shot. You bring Manchester closer and grip his nose, painfully squeezing on it. He yelps in pain.

You tell him that you're going to see if he can work for Bonzi in order to pay off his debt.

>"What?? No way! You can't make me work for that tub of l- OW AAAAUGH MY NOSE!! ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! I'LL DO WHAT YOU WANT. JUST STOP!"

You nod. You then look over at Cedric. You tell him that while you appreciate what he did for you, you don't need him to fight your battles. Especially if he's just going to lose and get himself hurt. You're not a babysitter.

>"R-right... I'm sorry..."

You ask him where Brie and Bonzi went, and he directs you upstairs. You drag Manchester along with you, taking care to make sure he bumps his head on the steps on the way up.

>"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Okay, I'm sorry! Ow!"

>"Bonzi's such a sweetheart, Mozzy! You should both come over sometime so I can give you a makeover!"

You roll your eyes. You prepare to bring up the deal, but Brie cuts you off.

You suppose this'll do.

You briefly wonder why Brie would even have clothes that could fit you. She did say she wanted to give you a makeover earlier, so you wouldn't put it past her to get you some clothes. Even if you probably would never wear them.

While Brie was helping you get dressed, Bonzi explained what she had been up to for the past few years. Apparently she had been working security jobs protecting some important higher-ups. You don't usually tend to go after the person who has an eight-foot-tall wall of fists as their bodyguard.

You proceed to tell her about your idea to have Manchester pay her off.

>"Servant, huh? Hm, I dunno, he seems to scrawny to be able to do much."

Manchester huffs at that, but you silence him with a glare. Bonzi continues.

>"Does he know anything about cleaning armor and such? I could always use someone for that."

Manchester attempts to respond, but you punch him in the head, knocking him to the floor.

You tell him he accepts.

>"Alright, works for me! You're now my slave until you pay off your debt."

Manchester scrambles to his feet, looking desperately at Brie.

>"Babe! You can't let them do this to me!"

Brie thinks for a moment, before answering him.

>"Well, you do owe her a lot of money. It's only fair. Besides, think of all the fun you'll have!"

>"Wh- fun?!"

You suppose that's over with. You prepare to bid farewell, when Bonzi suddenly speaks up.

>"Hey! I just remembered! I have a job up in the Higher Lands next week. Another protection job. There's a library up there that has a crazy amount of stuff in it."

Library?

>"Yeah, The Library of the Commonwealth! It contains all the information that's ever been discovered and all that. I'm not much for reading, but maybe you can find something there that can help you with your voice!"

You think about what Bonzi has told you. It was probably foolish of you to think you could simply hide forever. Sooner or later the Voice would find a way to overtake you; you could feel it. This library may be your chance to finally tackle this problem once-and-for-all.

But there's also the chance that you might run into Shrap in the Higher Lands. Which would be bad news, considering she may be tougher to deal with than Bonzi.

You don't remember explaining how the different lands work, so you decide to get it out of the way: the world you live in is split in three parts. The Common Lands is where you currently reside. It's big, and rests on the ocean. It's made up of isolated towns and villages.

The Higher Lands is a floating continent. All the richer folk live up there, as you stated earlier. The rich looking down on the lesser fortunate; both figuratively and literally.

Then there's the Under Lands. You don't know much about them, or even where they are. You just know it's apparently a dark place.

You tell Bonzi you're up for a trip to the Commonwealth. If something happens, you at least have Bonzi as back up.

Bonzi is delighted to hear this.

>"You'll love it! It'll be just like old times! Just, you know, without the mass murder."

Old times... you remember when you took the fragment of the Voice from your Master. The Voice you have isn't the entire being; it's merely a piece of a monstorous puzzle.

You turn to your sister and ask her if she has a skirt you can wear. You're not big on pants, but you should at least wear some kind of covering for your legs if you're going to the Higher Lands. As she gives one to you you ask her if she has enough money to pay off the damages Bonzi caused. She tells you it shouldn't be a problem. You nod, and bid her goodbye.

>"W-will you come back?"

You said if everything goes alright... you will. You promise. She hugs you and wishes you good luck. You grab Manchester and prepare to head downstairs, but Bonzi stops you.

>"Hey... can I come with you for a bit? You can show me where you live!"

You tell her your home isn't much, but fine, she can come. At least she can knock you out cold if the Voice acts up. You both head downstairs, where you find Cedric sitting and waiting for you. You help him to his feet so you can finally go home. Bonzi is oddly quiet now.

You tell Cedric that you're sorry for dragging him into all of this. None of this was your intention.

>"It's o-okay, Mozzy. You should be more worried about y-yourself! You got hurt protecting us."

You tell him it's nothing. You tell him that you're heading up to the Higher Lands next week to visit the library they have. You tell him you'll see if you can get him a book or two. He seems to perk up at this.

>"The L-Library of the C-Commonwealth?? I've always wanted to go there! They have more knowledge than anywhere in all the lands! Please, take me with you!"

You're not so sure. You don't want a repeat of what happened today. But he seems set on it... you sigh, and then say he can come. But you tell him he HAS to be properly prepared for what may happen.

He nods. You throw Manchester against the wall.

>"Ow, fuck!"

You warn him to stay here, or you and Bonzi will be back. His servitude begins next week. If he runs you're not going to stop Bonzi from doing as she pleases. He nervously agrees and slinks back upstairs.

As you make your way home, you ask Bonzi how long it will take to get to the Higher Lands. She tells you it should only take a day by airship. You nod. You've only been in an airship once, and that was a long while back. You briefly wonder about how Cedric is going to protect himself, but you suppose you can deal with that tomorrow. You reach the boat, but realize Bonzi is too big to fit.

>"It's okay, I can swim for hours, remember?"

Oh, right. Bonzi's species is rather aquatic. You and Cedric get into the boat, and Bonzi gets into the water. You start rowing, and swims after. After a few hours you reach the cliff where your home resides; you can see the sun starting to rise in the distance. Cedric tells you he can make his own way back home, so you bid him adieu. Now it's just you and Bonzi.

You take her up the cliff and inside your home.

>"It's... small."

You like to live meager, you say.

Suddenly the fatigue of the yesterday's events hit you. You need to rest. Bonzi sits leans down on a wall, and you sit next to her. After a while, your eyes start to close.

[And that ends Arc II. Sorry for the sporadic updates, finals and such. Next week Arc III begins, and things finally get a little more explaining. Also, puzzles!]
