>"... yes. Making you took more effort and time than you could know, I simply... could not bring myself to undermine my own efforts by holding your hand. I regret this decision. Yes, I have become what I hate, in body, mind and even soul. And so what? The heart of a mortal still beats, even if they hate themselves, and the magic of an undead does not fizzle in the same manner. I do not claim to be in the right. I am not an upstanding being. I am simply doing this, because this is what I wish to do. Let us take a walk, little Chee."

"Isn't killing them very reckless? Do you really understand what would happen? Also, maybe.. maybe you could join me, rather than you..."

>"So many questions, you must have. Yes, it is reckless. High risk, but monumental rewards. Yet.... perhaps this can be different. Looking at you, I am not filled with as much ire as I had expected to have. You remind me of my past self, at my more respectable times. I will consider letting you consume me rather than my original plan, but I doubt you share the same views on bringing the gods to their knees. That is my only restraint, as I do not care about my life anymore.

>I would like to show you a story, through the errant time magic lying within you. Take in the sight of this desolate land, remember it when you go to sleep. My understanding of what brings these past sights to you is limited, but I believe it can be directed to this land's past."

>Even with your ability to contain yourself, you are still unstable from far too many "almost" compatible magics! And you have liberally taken all the power you could in every variety, as though every mage on this island were combined. You would wish for mad liches and world eating wyrms, should you collapse in on yourself.

>Go back for now, little Chee. I do not feel the need to hurry as I did in the short past. I will think of myself joining you. Whether or not it happens, you should take care of your affairs. I should allow this much of you. I have to think, for the time being. Go and make sure your friends can make do without you."

Do not destroy the gods. Not initially. Not directly. Replace them. Make this world better.

Chee, there are alot of things that I could suggest for you to do. Particularly the Ursulina of gods for shits and giggles; you don't seem the sort however. So what exactly is it that motivates you? You no longer have need of survival and I see no desire for power of wealth in you. Protection and peace for the ones dear to you, perhaps? But there is only so much one can do without taking on the role of a god. And if that comes to past, will you snuff out the flame of conflict that drives the will of the living? Would you ensure the stagnation of existence, value survival and comfort over change?

Chee exactly what is it that you want?

So she's empty inside? That's sad. She doesn't seem to even have any friends. She really sacrificed a lot for so little.
It's just curiosity speaking, but I am curious who you really were before the Lich King made you into this experiment. Were you a baby made construct, did you have another name? When the soul thingy was eaten by Tom, was that you or LK Chee? If the former and you've always identified as a Chee construct, why the hell was LK Chee laughing her butt off?
Now I'm curious when the last time she genuinely enjoyed herself was.

Life goes on with or without the gods, especially if they aren't all-powerful and are just the very powerful beings Chee seems to be implying. The ability to fight and defy them if the time comes for their chosen Armageddon is what's important.

That's some pretty good advice, you should get your affairs in order.

And the thought of wiping out the gods isn't that bad. Sometimes old gods must make place for new ones, and sometimes the gods have to realise that mortals have no more use for them and that their time is past. Mortals deserve to succeed or fail on their own, not because some gods decreed that it should be so from their throne above.

Kobold of legends? You mean one of the statues? I think this is the same Chee that that statue inside the cave was modeled after.

"Um.. what if we replace the gods?"

>"Destroying them is my priority, and my area of study. I do not know how to become a god. Even if I did, I know of no one I would trust to become one. Power corrupts too easily."

"Hey, lich Chee.. when was the last time you enjoyed yourself?"

>"When I destroyed my last lich, back when I lived."

"I think I'll do it, then. Destroy the gods, I mean!"

>"You might just make me enjoy myself again. You - no, we - probably won't succeed, mind you, so I will only trust you when you know you'll do it."

Okay... affairs, affairs... is there anything I should do, back home, before I commit to this?

Well, we *should* see that story she mentioned.

Hmm. I kindof wonder where your personality comes from, as a construct. Do you have a 'personal' soul, or is that Chee's? You said you could feel the paladin soul's goodness, and that influenced your actions. Maybe Su's soul has been the foundation for your personality...

Anyway, yeah. We should go back and ask around what other people think of the gods. Maybe even read some books about them, to understand their place in the world. Also, we should tell our friends that maybe we won't be coming back next time we go out...

OH! There is one major thing we have to do. There's that kobold necromancer. We have to track him down and kill him, now that we're not pressed for time.

>"Your personality is based off of me, at your age. Your experiences have changed you significantly, but once again, you still bear my old antics. You do not have a soul yourself, but given my soul is within you, who is based off of me, it hardly matters."

"That's good enough! I'm going back to take care of everything. Goodbye, lich Chee!"

While I'm traveling, I'll talk to Shabin through one of my own undead.

"Hey, Shabin, Shabin!"

>"Chee. You're not dead. That's good. Also, your animated bones are creepy, no matter how many ribbons you tack onto them."

"Sorry! Where is everyone else?"

>"Clamp and Ears are still settling everyone down in the aftermath. Tae's out hunting, Minci and Tom said they were going to study potions."

"Then I'll ask them stuff later. Say, do you know anything about gods?"

>"Absolutely not. We don't practice religion. Kradis sometimes would say stuff like 'blah blah tis a god something something', but I never listened. He does study history too much."

"Hello Kradis! Thank you for saving my life back then!"

"Oh! Um... well, I was actually looking for you! I want to know about the gods."

>"... Chee, my gran'pappy told me a tale, passed down by his gran'pappy and the gran'pappy before that. Back when ye olde gods were worshipped, prayer and all. Twas a pack of kobold's who thought the gods were no good. Course, they couldn't fight gods or even the civilizations that worshipped the likes of them, so they kept their mouths shut good and tight and faught quietly till the end of their days. My fathers never knew what happened to them... but one of their names was "Cheelop." I didn't bore ye with that fact, tis not like Chee is an uncommon name. I began to wonder after your show of unordinary might and resolve all while wearing a straw hat, but that was no proof. Yet now, after the gods are but fables and myths, that small kobold by the name of Chee now comes to me, asking about destroying gods? Too much a coincidence, if I do say! Yet at the same time, that Chee of legend must be centuries old. What do you know?"

"Um... the real Chee is the Lich King. She wants to use my power to take on the gods. I'm sorry, I didn't think you'd believe me!"

>"Hah, a fine judgement, but you were right to come to me! To think, such an old tale resurfacing before me, in the flesh! Aye, I'll help ye. What would ye ask of me?"

Information! We don't know anything! First off, do the paladins actually worship the gods? Where do the gods live? Are they real, incarnate things or just fuzzy sky people?
>>
No. 343400 ID: 1854db

Centuries...? We should ask Minci how long ago the incident that created Tom was. You can do that via a construct right now, right? Be sure to knock first.

Aside from that... well, first thing's first. Is there any proof the gods interfere with mortal lives? Second, if they died, what would happen to the world? Third, exactly how powerful are they? Do we even stand a chance?

"I need information, any! Do the Paladins worship gods? Do they live, and are they incarnate? Is there proof they interfere with mortal lives, and if they died, what would happen? Also, how powerful?"

>"Aye, the paladin's worship a couple gods. They use magic in their name, but it's said they could use it just as well without gods. Now, all those other questions are shrouded in myth, I'm terribly sorry. There is little, if any, proof they have done anything. Most books tell of their prowess, but gods of lore have been slain, though never by mortal hands. There are never any hints of a time before gods, or what would happen if they were all dead. Now, they have been said to be both incarnate when they visit this world. That would imply that to slay a god, ye must bring a god down to this land. The Lich King would know better than I how to do such a thing. I know of five gods. One for life, death, earth, sea and the Godking, who deals with disputes and other divine matters. If my tales are correct, the Sea God is the weakest of that lot, having attained his godship through backstabbing and dishonor."

>>343425
Well, sounds like the Sea God isn't a nice guy, so we could knock him off and see what happens to the oceans.

Also, you know, it would be nice if we could speak directly to the members of our soul collective. Then we could ask the birdlich and the paladin questions... and Su, too!

Wait. "attained godship"? That sounds like he was once not a god. Can mortals become gods?
>>
No. 343442 ID: c71597

>>343425
Sounds like it should be safe to take them down then. The seas probably didn't just pop into existance because someone was suddenly god of them. And it's possible you take the power of the ones you kill when it comes to the gods. So things should be chill.

>"Chee, I shall assume ye'll be visiting the old Chee again? If so, could I ask ye to give something to him?"

"Sure! What is it?"

>"I'll bring it out to ye before ye leave, and explain it then."

"Oh, okay... also, is it possible for a mortal to become a god, if the sea god wasn't always a god?"

>"I do not know. The sea god was a demigod, alas. There are tales of mortals attempting to attain godhood, but those stories are always a tragedy. It is said it is impossible, yet that is likely simply words from a devout followers faith and defiance."

Talking to the bird lich... that seems like it would turn around my whole system, but since I was able to get Tom to shoot out one of the mage souls slightly, I might just be able to do that, if just briefly! It would be good to ask a question or two every once in awhile.

>"Well then, Chee. Is there a thing I can do for ye? Perhaps ye can rest here for the night if you like, if ye are not in too much of a hurry?"

>"Tis a straw hat, yes, but not just any! This is a trifle awkward, I must profess! But, this is why I thought of this as quite a coincidence, when a new Chee with a similar straw hat came to our warren. This has been passed down through my family for generations, taking exceptional care of and making sure this hat stays intact. My gran'pappy says the ones who wear this are the ones who take up the mantle to destroy the gods. My family has not donned it for as long as I have breathed, as while religion has all but died, the phrase "killing the gods" alas still stirs trouble. I would like to pass it back to its original owner, whom it seems lives on. Please, give it to the Chee who calls herself the Lich King. Perhaps it still means something, to her. If not... I would like ye to be the one, to put it on once more."
