giving Imperial Control as much as they can learn about us, no less letting them go through with a possible payoff is just as bad as becoming wanted on legitimate counts. force will at least lend the control to us as long as we can hold it. attack; missile followed by a slight course adjustment to avoid an attack before hyperjump

whether they have been bought off or not we should not fire on there ships. if you shoot at them in there book you go from probably a smuggler, to that asshole who tried to kill some of there friends. also this might be a good time to talk to your mom. she probably has a better idea of how imperials operate than you do.

Let them board. It's possible this is an attempt at backstabbery and/or assasination, but more likely it's just typical bureaucratic dickery, and the consequences of barbecuing a load of innocent(ish) Imperials aren't likely to be fun.

Cooperation is probably the best idea for the time being. We already allowed them to scan the ship and the have us outmatched in most categories. Be careful with that weird artifact gun or whatever else that is more likely they're actually after.
>>
No. 397791 ID: 5bec67

Golly, this sounds mighty suspicious. We're probably much better able to defend ourselves outside the ship than inside, but at the very least we should conceal weaponry in case things turn nasty. Try and get answers before you allow yourselves to be boarded.

“Mother, is this a normal procedure?”

“It isn’t. It is unlikely from Imperial Control to inspect small vessels, like a fighter. And our cargo hold is empty, this kind of action is only conducted when they try to apprehend a fugitive. Whatever you decide to do, Suria, be careful. Justified or not, an attack against imperial ships might provoke an hostile reaction from House Czara (This is their territory, remember?). But this is very suspicious...

Oh no! What do we do!? The Control Fighters are here, two of them with their weapons locked on our ship while the third one is about to board us.

The Hyperjump engines are ready to go, but we’ll have to turn off our shields before blasting away, which will leave us in a very vulnerable position.
>>

>>

Wait until the ship preparing to dock you is in a vulnerable position, maneuver as best as you can to put the other ship in harm's way and escape. I want to cooperate but this is too suspicious, and making sure will endanger us too much.

Alright, this is gonna be tricky. I wait until the docking ship close enough, then I quickly maneuver behind it, trying to use him to block the line of fire of the other two fighters. Then I turn off the shields and start the Hyperjump acceleration.

“Attention Viper Fighter! Cease all movement or we’ll open fire. This is the last warning!”

Shields off. We’re completely vulnerable now. Just a couple of seconds more...
>>
No. 398854 ID: 0006f5

just .. four seconds .....

It should be enough, but if they -are- going to fire you have to convince them not to, immediately. Im going to suggest against it, but i can only think of communicating that you have a hostage on board and 'fire, and you kill her'

any other ideas ?

No. 398880 ID: 1596ce

A distraction is in order. The ship you're using as a chield will boost out of there as soon as they figure out what's going on, and would only be useful against one other ship, anyway. You can bet the first thing the other two will do will be to come at you from opposite sides to prevent you from using their comrade as a shield. Confuse them, if you can.

can you dump power from weapons to shields? your gone in 4 seconds. also while doing that you might try talking, what you say isn't important so long as it makes them stop and think for a second or two, maybe something like
"i'm trying but the auto pilot won't disengage!"
it might make them hesitate if they think your trying to comply, or you could try something like
"open fire and the data goes up in flames"
complete BS, but unexpected enough that they might spend a second or two trying to figure out what your talking about.

>>398987

We need to re-route all the power available to the Hyperjump engine to make the jump, so weapons are off-line as well during that moment.

“Wait, don’t come any closer! Or I’ll kill her, and I will also destroy all the data she’s carrying with her!”
Their ships stop for a moment, and they establish audio connection again. “Wait, what? Identify your passenger immediately.”

But their hesitation is all we needed. I move out of the way and enter Hyperjump before they can react. We’re safe!

Alright, System C3, here we are, and this is the map. Before disappearing in the intersection, Vela said we should head to Vulens III to sell the merchandise. It’s a large industrial planet, with large residential and commercial zones. It might be hard to find them if they’re trying to hide from us and sell the teeth on their own.

Should we head there, or should we check at the Intersection, in case they’re waiting for us there?

“S-Sorry I threatened to kill you, mother. I didn’t mean to.”

“Don’t be silly, Suria I perfectly know your words weren’t serious. Now don’t waste anymore time or we’ll lose those teeths.”

Alright, we’ve reached Vulens III. As I said, it’s a large industrial world, with many cities and residential hubs. We land on the capital, Velenia, an agglomeration of factories, residential blocks, and landing pads crowding around the central tower where the Imperial Militia has its base. There’s no sight of Vela’s ship at the docks. We could try asking around anyways, or we could go somewhere else.

Ok, let’s check out the hangars first. But as soon as we sort this thing out, I need to visit a tailor. This shirt is horrible, it makes me look like some sort of Sinarri beggar.

We hang around the hangars and ask to a few workers, but nobody recalls seeing a ship fitting the one I describe, neither have they seen anybody looking like Vela or Vick around here. After bothering them for an hour, one of the younger mechanics tell us that if anybody knows about ships landing on the planet, is Vdaz, their boss.
“At this time of the day, he should be at the bar. But he’s not the cooperative kind of guy, so you might want to save your time and just forget about it.”

Ok, we head to the bar. The place is a large, circular room, with a counter that practically runs around half of the circumference, a single barnan standing behind it. The illumination is dim but functional, and the place looks pristine, with a large, industrial vending machine embed in the wall behind the counter rather than the classic approach of having the bottles on display for the customer.

Only a couple of tables are occupied, the establishment looks rather empty, considering how big it is. Who should I speak to?

Purple crests are one of the common phenotypic characteristics of the Czara House, just like the red frills on my head is one of the typical characteristics of the Azhue House, which I belong to. It’s only normal that most of the Ziraneés we’re encountering are members of the Czara, because we’re in the Czara Sector, after all.

We walk up to the bar counter and ask for a glass of wine. I don’t know what is “beer”, and I don’t know how I come up with these fake words.

“Excuse me, do you know where can we find Vdaz?”

The barman looks like a nervous fellow, and hesitates before answering.

“Huh... Yeah, he’s in the back. But... What do you want from him? He’s very busy and doesn’t want to be disturbed unless it’s something important.”

The barman seems rather alarmed and interrupts us. I didn’t know where Vdaz is anyways! But now I notice a door to the right side of the counter, that must lead to “the back” as the barman said. That is, if he let us go in.

“W-wait! What private business? I’m s-sorry and I don’t want to interrupt anything important, but you gotta tell me what it is about before I let you in! He’ll blame me if you waste his time, and I don’t even want to think about what happened last time that happened!”

We are bound to our House by blood, flesh and honour. To hide that we belong to our House is greatly shameful, and even declared traitors will remove or alter their crests or skin patterns as a last resource. Most of us would rather be dead.

Scars and damage over the crests are fine, we respect our warriors and their dedication to the cause. Scarred crests and frills are shown with pride. Now if a Ziraneé happened to be so badly scarred to lose them completely, he’d had them surgically replaced or even kill themselves before exposing such shame.

Ok, back in the bar, I touch his hand and stare at him him awkwardly for a minute, then I ask him why is he’s so insistent about preventing me from seeing Vdaz anyways. The man seems about to have a nervous breakdown.

We sneak up inside, trying to find a light switch or something, and not finding any, trying to make it as fast as possible to the other door through the dark area. Before I can even whisper a quiet “hello” we’re suddenly blinded by the light, as someone turns it on. When we finally manage to look up, the sight isn’t pleasant, because we stare up the barrel of several weapons.

“Straight into the trap, just how I like it.”

“Lock them up, we’ll have time to talk with them later after we get their ship. They’re not going anywhere...”
