>It was nearly midnight and all were asleep... All but one, a young girl kicking her feet.

Bored bored bored! How long are they planing on making me wait? I've been sitting here for three days. And that's three days past date.
Stupid adventurers! Can't they come any faster? I promised them gold, why aren't they here? They do love gold I'm told.
Maybe I was wrong, maybe they want women. *Grumble*

She hasn't paid them yet.

>Maybe I was wrong, maybe they want women.
Yes and maybe. Gold works as immediate incentive, but the chance of getting laid with a hot female is something any male will risk life and 'most' limbs for.
Why, do you happen to have some on hand for later bribery?
And what did you ask them to do? They might have failed, gotten lost, killed, enslaved, or otherwise neutralized.

Maybe the adventurers found another, better paying quest with less risk, or got distracted by an burning orphanage or something.

They easily lose sights of their goals.

>So how much did you pay them?

Oh! well of course I never paid anyone. I just get Ukobach to change into a human and... Wait I haven't introduced myself yet!
My name is Niflheim. I guard these parts. You see, years ago I founded a village just around the bend and invited all the retired monsters who no longer sought to keep their dungeons, to stay with me. In exchange all they need to do is stow all their treasure in one big room.
Now the reason why is quite simple. Every now and then I get Ukobach to disguise himself as a human and tell adventurers from nearby towns and taverns about the treasure, so I can kill them when they get here.
Normally they come by the dozen looking for gold and something they call Xp. But these days they're rare, I only get a few every run and they're really weak... *sigh* I sent Ukobach three days ago and they haven't arrived yet... But he came back safe and sound. Told me that he found a small group of warriors and a mage who looked interested...

>Gold works as immediate incentive, but the chance of getting laid with a hot female is something any male will risk life and 'most' limbs for.

Hee? Really?! heehee... I'll have to add some naked women to the pile. That's sure to get them running.

>Maybe the adventurers found another, better paying quest with less risk, or got distracted by an burning orphanage or something. They easily lose sights of their goals.

Oh I hope not... I'm so bored!

hmmm, perhaps a sub-rumor has surfaced and this place is known as a deathtrap so only the foolish newbies come. if NO ONE can get the treasure then people stop trying. the other groups could be 'grinding' until they think they are powerful enough to take it. so eventually you will get foes more powerful then ever. perhaps powerful enough to beat you and actually GET the treasure.

>eventually you will get foes more powerful then ever. perhaps powerful enough to beat you and actually GET the treasure.

Hehe... I'm liking the sound of that. Guess I'll just have to wait a while longer.

>Who's Ukobach?

He's a little orange demon that run's the fryer at the town's inn. He comes by and play's with me some times... Peoples in town say he has a crush on me, but that's just not true... He never crushes me. he's to weak to even try doing something like that, all he can do is a little weak fire magic. He's so weak that sometimes he runs away crying because I play to hard.

>What's the village's population?

34? I think...

>WHAT exacctly are you? Do you have any special skills?

I'm a Shrapnyl Raggamoffyn. Aside from my undefeated combat skills. I can erect parts of my original body at will from any point of my current body. I'm not sure why I look like a human... As long as I can remember I always looked like this.

"Has a crush on" is a way of saying "Is in love with". Ergo, they are saying he is in love with you. Is the concept of love alien to you or something?

So, why DO you lure adventurers here? Have you ever had some show up and be kind and polite to the townsfolk? What would you do about them?

>they are saying he is in love with you. Is the concept of love alien to you or something?

Ukobach? In love with me? Nahhh... That's preposterous. He would of told me were that the case, besides he's always calling me a big meanie.
What does alien mean?

>is the village safe for these 3 days...?

It's fine... The only road into the village passed through me... And nothing gets by me without my consent. And even in the off chance that some one would try to brave the forest and live, Jormungand and Fenrir are keeping the peace in town, so it's fine to absent myself for a few days.

>Have you ever had some show up and be kind and polite to the townsfolk?

Nope. They all just wave they're swords at me. Well some times merchants pop by... And sometimes I don't kill them... But most of the time I do... Make's trading goods easier.

>why don't you take a break and try finding the adventurers?

I can't... I'm bound to this place. That tree over there is as far as I can go. As far back as I can remember I was never able to leave. that's why I built the village instead of just taking one.
But yes... I long to see the world... I want to find all the really strong guys and see what the rest of the world has to offer... But I can't... Because I'm bound to this place... Until some one defeats me and becomes my new master...

love is strange thing and it makes you act strange. probably hasn't told you because he is scared you would reject him. love is what makes him come to you, but fear quiets his voice. if you told him that you love him he would probably faint from shock or kiss you.

What will count as "defeat"? Simply surrendering, death of your current body (as something happened to the original), or separating "you" from the body?

>love is strange thing and it makes you act strange. probably hasn't told you because he is scared you would reject him. love is what makes him come to you, but fear quiets his voice. if you told him that you love him he would probably faint from shock or kiss you.

Well I probably would reject him. He's totally not my type. Sure he's a great friend and all, but I need a man that's strong and courageous. Ukobach's really weak and wimpy.
What's a kiss? Is it funner than killing peoples?

>What will count as "defeat"? Simply surrendering, death of your current body (as something happened to the original), or separating "you" from the body?

I can't let myself loose and I can't surrender. If I'm still able to fight I must do so... Don't ask me why I don't even know.
Original body isn't really the right words... This is my first body so to speak, so there isn't really an original aside from this. But I Do remember... If only for an instant, When I first formed I wasn't a person but merely the discarded remains of a genocide.
death doesn't really click with me... I don't know If it can be done... But... I've had my head blown clean off once. Just put the bugger back on and I was fine.

>so lets say if a certain cooker were to become your master, what would happen to your restrictions?

Right now I'm bound to the earth, so I can't leave. If I were defeated I would have a new master and would be bound to it. Until it's defeated that is... I would also have to follow orders... But that's a small price to pay in exchange for seeing the world.

What if they challenge you to something that's not combat? Would that work?

What if they challenged you to something where you're highly unlikely to win? Can you accept challenges you know you can't win?

What if somebody becomes your master, then challenges you for control and loses? Would you be your own master?

If Ukobach beat you then wouldn't that prove he's strong and courageous enough for you? Would you be interested in him then?

Maybe... no one ever tried.

Once again. Maybe... I've never lost at anything... But I've never really been challenged to anything but fights.

>What if somebody becomes your master, then challenges you for control and loses? Would you be your own master?

No... That's just silly.

>If Ukobach beat you then wouldn't that prove he's strong and courageous enough for you? Would you be interested in him then?

Well of course... But that just won't ever happen... He's far to weak. He did try once. challenged me to fisticuffs. I broke his leg, three ribs and undid his jaw in one punch.

>I'll never be free.

You can't win if you don't play the game. Your binary thinking has you viewing of freedom in absolute terms, not practical ones.

Right now you can do basically whatever you want, but only in a limited area. If, however, you were to gain a master or mistress that you could easily manipulate then you could do basically whatever you want anywhere.

Next time you spend time with Ukobach you should muse to him that nobody has ever thought to try challenging you to something other than combat, let alone something where you would have no chance of winning.
If that works then you'll be under the control of a weak master that loves you, which will make it incredibly simple for you to make sure he does what you want him to.

>Well, try to see who they are and what they want. After all, you can't look impressive against a bunch of merchants who just cower or run away.

Hhmmn... Your right... If they're just merchants they might try running away. I'll have to open with killing off their horse. They wont get far without it.
