The flames are uh... fire magic. Magic armor. Keeps him from being burned, burns other stuff. The blue blades are soul magic, extensions of his soul, quite sharp, non-physical, intended to carve off pieces of someone's soul, such as yours. Avoid at all costs.

However, you're missing the point. Him being able to hold your brother's life over your head is making it hard for him to think unselfishly.
Once your brother is alive your only reasons for being there are because you want to and to keep up your end of the bargain. He's convinced that you would leave as soon as your brother was alive, and being proven wrong would force him to reconsider how he views the world. He needs you to be there by choice, so your brother needs to come back now.

In the terms you used, as long as he has your brother as leverage he sees no bond between you two.

As far as the hurting goes, we're using a carrot-and-stick approach. So far we've only used this ability when he did something completely an undeniably evil, or when he was ignoring our warnings about something that would kill him.

Anyway, drag him back to Tikka. If you can use Item 6 to carry him that would make it a lot easier.

Remember Su, a lot of the good he did was at our insistence. Still you and us did have an effect on him and something did stir in his stone cold heart. The problem is he isn't like any other race, he is artificial and his mind is created with limits and rules and compulsions he can't just get over by effort alone, and changes to that can change his nature or just break him. I believe what you say, Gram does have some good in him. Its just going to be all of our responsibilities to help Gram in our own ways. Unfortunately, with Gram being a fairly powerful person, we have to act as the 'forced stop' to anything he does that can go really bad.

As such, do forgive us, continue to be his guardian angel to lead his path, while we must be the strong hand and pain when things go wrong. Hopefully, eventually we will not need to force his hand at times.
