Sealed.
Trapped.
Sent hurtling through time.

Once a hive, and now a lone being.
Called 'Evil', named 'dissenter', abjured away from your lone goal.Trapped forever in this damnable box.

By a little goddamn fucking girl! I WILL FIND THEM AND KILL THEM!

...er, as soon as I escape. All I have is this little damn Orb someone placed in here with me...

Ah, I suppose some exposition is in order.

You see a long time ago (or rather, in the future) my home was stolen from me. One of the theives managed to disable me long enough to send me hurtling through time, to this... backwards period.

I have placed the blade upon my body, although you can;t very well see inside me. Altans can altar their own bodies to a degree, for instance, 'pockets' and 'sheaths' are fairly easy and useful. However, musculature and body armor are beyond me.

Altans don't generally carry a lot of personal things: it's commonly said that a human works with tools they make, whereas an Altan makes their own tools from themselves.

The only thing stolen from me was opportunity, and power, which is quite slow coming. However, exercise is helpful, so, at least I'm working on that...

Let's see, now. Nothing in the matress, but in the chest... well set me on fire and call me a poggle.

It's a Wakwak! Asleep, near dead, but a wakwak! Amazing...
Wakwaks are creatures like me, Altans, but they trade in intellect and power (both mental and physical) for the senses. They're very handy since I can sense their mind and essentially, see through them, even far away.

Actually... no.
The area seems rather dead.

Then again, we did search the whole complex we were in, essentially.
Let me think... perhaps now would be a good chance to explain how an Altan works.

First off, any sentient Altan is called an Operator.
Below them are the Kerrans.
Below this diverse caste is the Wakwaks.
Operators create most of their subordinates by absorbing and converting BIOMASS. Doing so by hand can be time-consuming and inefficient, but it's my only option at the moment.

It occurs to me that if this is Earth, I will need to evade large populations of pi-er, humans....

Argh! This is going to be far more difficult than I had anticipated!

Down the hole the statue created there may be small things you can utilize. Rats and suchlike. who knows the possibilities of life on this world.

If the dead bodies of the humans you saw can be converted then I recommend them as well. I believe that biomass must be living however. Would be logical.

Then I must suggest behind the symbol in the dark room. Perhaps we can smash the wall down somehow. Too bad the huge bloody creature couldn't be persuaded to follow your command.

The future... was bigger. Rather than nations, there were planets. The pinkies were spread throughout the planets like a plague, their own world swollen and festering by their own mistakes.

But for them, it is an age of hope and happiness, and of great expectations.

For my kind, it is a time of civil war, and dissent, and death.

That sucks. Well, now we have a chance to make them suffer. Do we have enough biomass to make some soldiers? Preferably raiders? If we could gather some supplies then we could bowl that town right over. Then it'd just be a matter of time before we do the same to the next and so on.

Any way to incapacitate them, and use them as spies? Some way to capture them, force them to do your bidding, but still leave them their memories so they can be useful double agents?

Alternatively, just mindrip all knowledge they have, consume them, and use the mass to improve musculature. If this is the tech level of the area, being able to fight without using telekinesis could help keep a low profile.

This is a rather new oppurtunity.

You see, since these fellow, while dimwitted, are sentient, I have all sorts of tricks! For instance, I can blind them to my prescence, I can make them hallucinate, I can make them feel pain without touching them...

Their minds are my toy!

Certainly, I could just kill them instantly, stop their heart, but where's the kicks in that?
>>

Hm.

A useful test of how much of your powers have come back would be to cause them to hallucinate and disasociate with reality enough that you could kick them in the face and they wouldn't notice, then maybe adapt some of their biomass so that you have access to their senses, and some sort of way to suggest to them to do things (rewire brain a bit I suspect).

Then, send them back to wherever they came from to report that everything is fine here, all slippery floors, rusted spikes and empty treasure chests. That their community should ignore this place.

And then periodically check up on these guys to see how the town they came from is, as you slowly range about.

Or would be, if my powers weren't so damn stunted! Argh! I can only force one to hallucinate!

I target the one that seems to be weakest of will first. He doesn't see anything of interest... and I take a peek into his memories while I'm at it.

Appaerently, my guess was correct: This is a place for sealing powerful monsters and the like. Seems some cleric or some sort had a vision that the bonds had broken, so these three were sent out to handle it. They're wandering adventurers, no home or families, but if they don't return...

More options should present themselves there.

Or, if you would rather consolidate power in the base, then send back the lone spy survivor with his tale 'so sorry, but everything seemed fine there, other than a wall falling on my two comrades'

An Operator is somewhat limited in his choices. Most adaptations are mentally inclined, changing the construction of the brain and such. I can speed the recovery of my abilities, create new psychic abilities, improve my senses, things like that. If I improve physically much futher, I may have to sacrifice mental aptitude. It's simply how I work.

Here's a list of abilities I can obtain:
>Mind Seed: A time-delay version of Telepathy/Control. Stronger.

>Inspire mental acuity: Allows me to give others small mental abilities, such as apes or humans.

>Inspire strength: A physical version of the previous.

Okay, about Greater Conversion.

If we, hypothetically speaking, converted all the devout followers to biomass, we would not only get said biomass to do with as we will, but also their mental acuity as well? As in, we would be able to marginally improve our mental abilities (psychic or otherwise) every time we convert a thinking creature to biomass?

What I mean by that is that they retain it. As in, they wouldn't be rendered as smart as a rodent if I converted them to a group of Wakwaks. It's handy since they can alert me without me having to jack into them.

Okay.

If there is any way to relay a message to the Cleric to partitition his followers into groups according to their devotion, or is this already the structure followed?

Then, get him to lead the devout 50 odd in first, saying something like 'I believe that prayer and devotion can cleanse the evil from this place, but only those of pious soul should dare venture in first.' Or some such.

When he leads the 50 odd devout in, relay a message to phrase the prayer session in such a way that people inclined to doing as the cleric says will be leaving their minds particularly susceptible to successful implantation of mind seeds.

The plan goes on from there, but lets take it step by step. Should leave you in a very firmly situated place.

Okay.

If I am interpreting what you did correctly, it is still the same day, and the 50 devout are infected with mind seeds and have all 'prayed' to purge the tomb.

Now, have the priest lead in much larger batches of the other followers (having him ask the devout to keep them from wandering beyond this central area today, on the first attempt to 'purge' the tomb or evil), and let them pray, without doing anything to them (I presume you currently mentally exhausted, and thus unable to mind seed them).

Once all the follwers have prayed, have the cleric say that he can feel the evil weakened here, and will now spend a few days in meditation in the now cleansed main entry chamber.

Let the devout lead everyone back to the village, and be ready to alter your cleric and give him new instructions thereafter.

Hold onto him for three more days (mind seeds should have activated in the prior day, the blood should be refilled and the devout should have arrived back at town).

Two days into holding him, when the devout's mind seeds activate, have them start talking about getting visions of the cleric communing with a god, to bring back divine word.

And the modifications we want to impose on him are to get his body back to its natural physical peak, (but leave any non-crippling scars or blemishes acquired throughout life to help with identification). Fit in some sort of discrete internal organ to allow realtime communication with you, and send him back towards town.

whoa now, does that mean that she could be thought of as our natural predator?

Now, this blue light she is attacking you with, under what rules does it operate, as far as you know? If you know anything about the mechanics of said power, there is a chance that the Orb can come up with some sort of countermeasure.

Specifically, it seems like her power is prectically designed to effect us, which could mean it is somehow keyed to our mind/body/DNA/whatever. And if it turns out it is keyed to us in some way, then if we use our powers to reconfigure ourselves (like converting ourselves into some sort of giant mass of single celled organisms or differing design than Altan and remake our brain to send signals in a new fashion (if it was electrical before, now chemical signal transmissions). Doing this would change pretty much everything about us that could be making this blue light so effective, and so it has a decent chance of at the very least giving you resistances to this power.

Which is really all you need, since with some resistance, you can try a tactic I imagine no Altan has tried before: treat the fight like a fight between two single celled organisms. Try to engulf and absorb this foe.

Remember, it may be dishonorable or distasteful to you to try this, but also recall that you lost before. Maybe new tactics are just what you need.

If you want to succeed in conquering everything where you failed before, you must be open to these new ideas.

If you'll notice, there are no areas of civilization adjacent to the large body of water. Most likely reason is that the people get their water from rivers and/or aquifers. I doubt poisoning the large body of water would do much of anything.

No, you need to continue on your dark cult of doom plan.

Spread prophets throughout the land to tell of your coming, and stay hidden till then. Work on absorbing one of the forests.

Then when you feel you're ready and the dark message of your servants has had enough time to simmer in the consciousness of the collective, choose a small city to make your appearance. Offer them one chance to serve you, and if they refuse, destroy the entire city. I recommend the small one in the South West, the one surrounded by three other cities. Destroy the city in the most flashy way possible, preferably by raining down fire or by making the earth open up to swallow the city whole.

Go for something really simple. Considering your capabilities, I'm thinking Eldritch horror. Then again, you're obsessed with parallelism, so that probably won't work out so well.

How about the Miasma of Enlightening Decay? Teach that the world is going to end in a horrible catastrophe, and that the word must be spread to all. The terrifying idea that all sources of authority will be helpless and tossed aside is what will draw people to you. People seeking purpose, desiring a rock to stand on in an uncertain world. Emphasize your desire to help this apocalypse come to be, that yours will be the cleansing fire that sweeps this planet in a fatal renewal. Those who serve you will have a place in the new order as your chosen ones. The uniforms can be... dark robes... or something. Maybe black rags.

On biomass conversion:
It's easier to convert it to what it was at first. Changing the composition twice can degrade it badly. For instance, if I were to take a tree, and convert it to a man-eating plant, I'd get a bigger one than if I had taken that same tree and made, say, a bigass lizard. Just for your information.

However, as I'm certain I've stated before, I despise walking among humans, except to murder them in an excessive and bloody manner. I'll just ride a bird's mind and look. The first town is pretty small. Seems most of their money comes from the mine at the base of the mountain, the smithy, and the foundry. My cult is small here: Mostly deep in the mines, where I am a helper in the dark.

Just double checking, but it seems these knights are specialized.

The first had mental protection, was an anti-psychic knight.

This one is monstrously capable physically. So we could try to just control him, right?

Don't say anything to him when you try, just preface any interaction with this knight with an attempt to faltout take control of them.

If that fails, here's a thought:
These knights clearly exceed human abilities. They also have RED EYES. seems they may be some precursor to Altans (since we are in the past and all).

So, if taking its mind doesn't work, GO FOR THE EYES. If it has powers like yours, maybe it has weaknesses that come with it.

And while he is coming to the room, make something discreet looking (hide it in a wall or something) that pumps out a bunch of paralytic agents, sedatives and disasociatives (make sure to protect yourself from these).

Why fight fair?

And seriously, do some sort of autopsy or analysis of this guy, and integrate whatever gives him his physical supremacy into yourself, and try and add it to all you creations.

Mental powers are of course imminently important, but it doesn't hurt to expand our portfolio.

Who knows what the next knight can do. It could be hand to just be able to say 'Fuck it, I will rip you in half' and be able to do it.

Can you make minions capable of shooting projectiles? You should start planning for army scale warfare i'd think. Here, i made you a list of how things work more or less. Those who aren't directly connected are more or less equal, with the specific situation (terrain mostly) determining who is "stronger".

Cavalry > Shield Wall > Archers > Spearmen > Cavalry

That's rather simplistic, and seeing the kinds of minions you have you don't seem to fit, but you can expect human armies to have those kinds of troops, so if we could get minions that break that circle they'd be screwed.

If you have ranged troops that are also as good as any melee warrior, cavalry that somehow doesn't care about spears (burrowing? flying?). That kind of thing.

Generally, people forming a shield wall will also be given spears to break a charge. A better model might be

Cavalry>standard infantry>pikers>cavalry

Archers are quite distinct, functionally, from these groups, and don't fit in with them. Shield walls don't actually do much against archers if there's more than one group of them. Nothing much short of a full-on turtle formation will help at that point.

Of course, the perfect warrior is a dragoon with spear, sword, mace, and bow, and is great at using all of them.
>>
No. 27582 ID: e335bf

....you said the enhancements are in the armor, right?

Armor, of course. And a shield of some sort.

>Unless you could find a way of launching one right into the middle of a melee.
>Dragoon
Um, yeah.

And most weapons aren't that heavy, actually. The mace might be, but even so, as long as these weapons are worn properly when not in use, armor is a much bigger weight problem. I would suggest Half-plate for optimal utility. Of course, such versatile warriors would require significant t investment, and if we wanted to truly minimize deaths, full plate would be entirely justified.

Being able to create soldiers from dead bodies made the Operaters realize it was silly and we stopped warring after a brief period of conflict... up until recently, when the humans took Mars from us.
