No. She doesn't. This is what I am trying to stress: Illeena is the last person in our village suited to this kind of dangerous adventure and the fact that she thinks she is capable (or that there is no danger) only makes her more vulnerable. I am capable of making camp and fending for myself in the wild for a time, I have gone on journeys before, though none as long as this, I can fight with a sword, I can hunt. I can stay low, I can even track to a degree, and I can find my way in the world.
Illeena can do none of these things. She is not useless, but her place is not out here! She is completely unsuited to this type of journey and even with me there to watch over her she would end up getting hurt. It's not that I don't like her, or don't want her company, it's that if she comes along I am certain it will be bad for her.

This is not something I am going to enjoy, but it seems I have no choice, and my father taught me to always look after my friends.

All I had to do was find a few arobaro roots just under the sand and extract some of their creamy pigment. Not a hard task.

No, it's not like a wedding vow. It's just a gesture to show sincerity and friendship, and a promise to return.
