Actually, don't use the sword. Keep it hidden. You're being taken to Bladetree and Axebeard. Make sure you hide it so you can give it to one of them when you meet -- they're stronger than you, and you aren't going to get very far on your own anyway.
And if it gets taken, well... you weren't going to get very far on your own anyway.

Instead, play your flute. Just for the hell of it!

Mudy relaxes and let's himself be pulled along the current of spirits.
>"Hey, you're welcome. We don't ever get to talk much do we? Do you have a proper name besides 'Bane Sidhe?'"

The fey blurs in and out of view.
>"N A M E S M A T T E R N O T H E R E ."

>"O N L Y F E E L I N G S , Y O U N G B A R D . Y O U R M U S I C T E L L S M E Y O U R S . H O W C A N I A S S I S T Y O U R M O R T A L B U R D E N?"

Mudy strains himself to focus on his worries, which seem to be pulled away from him as he remains in the vague realm.
>"My mortal form is captured, and faces bondage most foul and servitude, indentured, without the possibility of the purchase of my bond... My allies have already been pressed into this state by the men currently transporting my corporeal form, and, should I be unable to free them, and face the servitude that they share, my days of bringing joy are starkly limited."
He feels his weight returning with his words.
>"Lend me what aid you are able. I will promise to continue to do my utmost to continue to spread the joy of your and my song as far as I am able; but I need your assistance in freeing these imprisoned fellow sentients, and escaping this durance most vile."

With the last of his words Mudy can feel he has returned to his normal weight, and the world around him begins to fade and blur.
He only just catches a glimpse of the fey's smile.

Two options, we cut out now or wait until storms over.

On one hand we don't have protective eyewear and nothing is worse than getting sand in our panties.

On the other hand we could very well be burried under a small mountain of sand by the time the storm is over.

I say we cut out now. Better sand in the pants than sand all around.

We should ask about his illness, maybe in private. If we're gonna choose the ruler we should know if he's gonna die in a week and cause a fight for the crown.

Though i wonder if we can persuade them to work together and share it (or decide it themselves, i bet their mother would be happier if that happened), seeing as they're turning out to be rather reasonable.

As for Raital, if we're still carrying that big sword around maybe we could get her back into her old hobby.

I still vote some sort of Council wherein every few years they elect one of their number to possess the crown (with the council possessing the ability to remove the crown by unanimous vote) to be the best option.

It forces those who want the crown to do what is necessary to please enough people to keep getting re-elected, and since all the people they are trying to convince (their family) all hold different aspects of the well-being of Firewater as dear, the only way to rule consistently is to rule in the best interest of Firewater as a whole.

Having such a system could potentially force all of them to get used to leading the nation, so that should any of them die (IE Rapier or anyone else) the remaining family members would know how to govern in their absence because they have all tried their hand at it.

And make sure that their children are made eligible, so that over the years, eventually their nation has a ruling family that contests leadership not by assassinations, but by endless efforts to be the best potential ruler possible.

Rapier won't be a good choice for a long term ruler since he's an expansionist. Halberd, while she wants to promote trade, seems to place an important on luxury and doesn't take things as seriously as they should. Stiletto actually seems like a pretty cool guy.
