He brings out the Good Book.
Zimir: Now, then.
Zimir: Children of Amama, I woke up in the morning of last day-of-kyne to a beautiful village with nary a cloud obfuscating the dawn sky. And I thought about how grateful I was to live in Du-Gar after fifteen long and peaceful years.
Zimir: And it was that particular morning which made me reflect on the journey I took when I began as a missionary: traveling town to town, city to city. It was here I felt this village could be the last bastion of a calm, simple living.
Zimir: There’s a yearning within each and every chupian being for good, simpler times--times before life outside our world made first contact.
Zimir: For I had returned from the enclave of Avyndim. Cities are unsurprisingly a different beast, especially when it’s a port for planet-hoppers, so I don’t blame the culture that manifests within their steel highlands. And we are thankful for the amount of innovation the galaxy brings to our blue marble. The gifts brought by innovation are a double-edged sword, however: The first who experience it define ingenuity--but the second define depravity.
Zimir: And it’s natural that such innovation bleeds into the outskirts; like a spill of yam milk it soaks into dirt. It reaches out further and further like a dark hand. Yet by the time it reaches a humble town like ours, it has been filtered like a spring. The time it took to reach us has excised the pollutants it carries.
Zimir: But when you rush its influence, driven by depravity and eager convenience, that’s when it threatens our livelihood.
Zimir: Yes, convenience! Towns are adopting an unnecessary convenience, let me coin that, unnecessary convenience that whittles away their traditional values! It is a dangerous cloud that slowly looms over the minds of simple folk.
Zimir: And convenience is an unsung whisper! And those whispers are tricky, devious--but they disguise themselves to sound pleasing and agreeable--
Zimir: And the reason these murmurs sound pleasing and agreeable is because they are a reflection of you! Engineered convenience being the worst of all! And the more you feed into convenience the more it learns about you. And the more you’ll succumb to its enticing counsel.
Zimir: Sound familiar? Of course, if you’ve been reading our Good Book! If we’re not careful, then we’re doomed to repeat Susurrations.
Zimir: We shall read a parable from the Dagan Hums--
Del: Wow. The Dagan Hums. Daring today, aren’t we?
Sashi: SH!
Zimir: --about an Amulet of Insinuation, in our chapter of Susurrations!
