“Well, you better go get her, then. We need our harbor back.” She points to Gabe and glares, “Speaking of which, you should get down there, riiight?”
The mouse sight and sits up. “Alright. I get it.” He opens up his storage gate and sticks his arm in. Gabe fishes around for a moment before pulling out a badge and polishing it against his hip before pinning it on.”
“You know, I’ve been meaning to learn how to do that. Most guardians just use a beacon in a big closet or something.” Mariana watches the storage portal close with a pop and shakes her head.
“You don’t have a storage dimension? I thought more senders knew how to use one!” Gabe replies.
The bird shrugs and polishes off her sweet-bread. “I know the theory behind them: using the space between planes to form a little pocket. Never learned how.”
“I’ll, er, scry you up sometime. Maybe I can teach you!”
“Yeah, give me a call. Now, shoo!” She waves him away and the mouse gives an impish salute before departing.
“What about you two? You said you were going to talk to your elemental friend, right? I’m rested up enough that could probably manage a gate if you need it.” The guardian turns to Kol and Casey.
The pair look to one another and mull it over. Casey replies, “Hmm, Fennel lives with us, buuuut… last we heard, there was some kind of fae agent prowling around our place. It might be a good idea to drop us off somewhere they won’t notice the gate. That way we could scope out the neighborhood without being seen. “
“Hmm that’s a good idea, where should I drop you?”
“Are you familiar with Hearthfire Bakery? We could walk from there.” Kol suggests.
Mariana nods and stands up, stretching her arms and back. “That’s the place your chinchilla friend runs, right? Been meaning to try it out.” She peers into the crystal ball on her desk and does a quick scry to locate it. “Alright, you ready?”
The mice nod and step forward into Mariana’s gate, finding themselves standing outside Miki’s bakery.
