You should mention the throbbing pain beneath your ear. Beside being a cut that likely needs desinfectant and you can't see directly, there might be other cuts you can't see in a mirror.

Your leg injuries are also worth checking or disinfecting. Ask if you can get some wads of cotton soaked with disinfectant / rubbing alcohol. You can then use those to clean your own wounds, if you feel uncomfortable about Swiss doing it. It will sting like a bitch but that's just how it goes if you don't want infections.

The bad news you might need to mentally prepare for is the likelyhood you need to visit a medical hospital. Swiss's first aid can only do so much to help your car accident injuries from properly healing, or for things like concussions or similar physical trauma.

After Swiss is done with his first aid, ask for 911 or an ambulance to be called.

think of it not just in the context of this event, but as a service to prevent future mishaps with other people. you're doing him a favor!

the decision to use a figure eight knot to presumably represent a knot tying achievment is interesting. the typical knot you would see would be the square or coral knot or maybe some sort of sheetbend depending on context, knots that are both more useful and exemplify the knots ability to tie two things together, to form connection.

the figure eight knot is tied on one single length of rope, and while not useless by any means, mucb lower on the use case then many. even doubling the figure eight knot as is used in mooring and rapelling would solve both these issues (not that you would want to double a figure eight if it wasnt the same rope, but maybe if it was similair enougb it wou!d be passable). as it is, the stand alone figure eight is normally used to as a stopgap to prevent a rope from going through an opening its thread through, a very mundane task that nearly any sufficently large knot could accomplish.

You do need the understanding you need to undress so they can find all injuries like bruises or broken ribs that have gone numb, or look at your spinal placement, take off your socks so you can see if you have any broken toes or cuts there. And it's a bit dark to assume the first boyscout you met got groomed by a bad kind of scout group. From his sudden change in tone, I think he has a deep-seated issue that the word 'pathfinder' is reminding him of.

Like, maybe he keeps trying to become one but keeps failing desite his best effort. An 'unreachable dream' situation. Being reminded of what he cannot achieve is depressing him, especially if its due to a medical/mental condition. Could also be traumatic memories associated with a pathfinder. A family tragedy, an accident he feels guilt over?

Thank him for the medical care, for helping you feel safe despite your issues, and apologize for upsetting him unintentionally with your words.

And then take his advice and get yourself to a hospital. Call 911 / ask for him to call it and have an ambulance pick you up.

Either the word pathfinder made him relive a very traumatic/painful memory...

...Or that wound behind your ear is somehow very unsettling / out of his depth to treat. Go to a hospital and do not poke/prod that injury until a doctor looks at it and confirms its not life-threatening.

Give him some encouragement and remind him that you're not exacty the best of patients either.

But yeah maybe hit up an ER or a free clinic or something because that reaction was not exactly great

seems like he's doing a good job. Tell him that

all of you need to, like, chill. you'll make maya paranoid. have some sense? he's clearly just insecure about something. he was proud as peaches about every other part of being a Cliffside Pathfinder!
He might be really struggling to get better at medicine. Or maybe he messed up on someone and it still eats at him.

We don't know *what* made him feel this way, but he clearly needs some encouragement.

Tell him you're feeling a lot better with his help, actually. That you actually feel much safer with him than strangers at the hospital. You'd rather him stay, and help more, too. Use puppy-kitty-eyes if you have to. He's gotta have some faith in himself.

plus, remember the quest. "find a friend your age"!

I think feeling safe around someone is something really special. Especially for some one like you. Be graveful and thank him as sincerely as you can
