Sexy underwear is great- why limit myself to just one secret weapon? I don’t think I’ll be showing it off on my first date- but knowing it’s there, designed by me, will be a huge confidence booster. Maybe I can hint at how good a seamstress I am for intimate wear, and his imagination will go from there!

I’m not comfortable enough to test out my secret weapon on Duran and Zinnia- it’s special for Celyn! But I can surely get their opinions on a few ideas.

“Your hair!” Samantha gasps. “You’ve cut it!”

“Ravishing!” Tineola cheers. “I’ve often dreamed of what it would be like to have a neck unburdened by fluff or hair! Such freedom, to feel the wind on my back! To be freed from the burden of washing it so often to maintain my radiance! You are so brave, Saiorse!”

“Well…” I shuffle my feet. “It wasn’t really my decision.”

“What? Who on earth would decide what your hair looks like?”

“I, um, lost a bet, or something like that,” I mumble. “Look, it’s fine, okay? It’s not a big deal.”

“It’s not okay!” Samantha steps in. “Who made you do it? Was it that mangy cat that hangs around that seedy bar? She needs to be taught a lesson!”

“She’s horrid!” Tineola agrees. “Yes, let’s teach her a lesson!”

“No!” I shudder. “She’s bad news! I don’t want anything bad happening to you two, so… just… just come in, okay?” I open the door to A Stitch in Time wide. I remember that Samantha is here to add security features to my lens and made a special case that will allow it to charge up. But what is Tineola here for? Think, Saiorse, think!

“Are you here for fabric samples?” I remember our conversation last week.

“But of course!” Tineola claps one of her two pairs of hands (mandibles?) together. “Your lace is simply superb. Such texture… you wouldn’t happen to have some scraps of lace left over, would you?”

Tineola’s face falls. She was really looking forward to my lace. Aww… but it takes a LOT of effort to make those, and I don’t have extra samples. I feel bad for letting her down, but it’s been a VERY busy time lately.

“She is,” Samantha nods eagerly. “Thank goodness. She’s much more manageable these days. Though I do wonder where she gets off to… she’s told me she’s sworn to secrecy. She’s not normally so tight-lipped.”

Samantha looks to Tineola, then to me, then her satchel. She’s implying something… about secrets… oh! She wants to know how closely guarded I want to be about my lens. And… maybe something about Naomi, too.

Do I tell either of them about the Secret Swimming Spot that Naomi, Elaine and I use? The more people that know about it, the higher risk it gets discovered by Censors (and therefore the risk of wearing skimpy swimwear goes WAY up.)

How closely do I guard my lens’s secrets from Tineola? She doesn’t know about its features or its worth.

I consider sharing the secret swimming spot, but one thing stops me.

Tina is big.

She’s got big wings. Big, big, big boobs. She’s not as tall as Elaine, but she’s still getting close to 7 feet. She draws ATTENTION. She’s an adventurer and can be stealthy, somehow, I guess, but I do NOT want to put that to the test when my peace of mind is at stake.

Plus, she flashed my butt and tacky garters to a whole bar on my first night out, and that makes me not like her just a little bit.

“We have plenty of fabrics to choose from,” I say just a little too sweetly, guiding her away from Samantha, who is working on my lens and won’t be done for a while. “What looks good to you?”

“Oh, my, there’s so many choices. Your selection is impeccable,” Tina smiles. “Your work for Busalla is delightful. I’m a bit of a dabbler in sewing myself, I know a steady hand when I see one.”

“My own PERSONAL lace garments? I do have a date tonight,” I say. “That is quite a request. Wouldn’t you rather have me make something custom for you?”

“Oh, a custom piece! Well, of course, but it’s not available right this minute. And a date? How wonderful, and good luck! What do I do?
1. Pull out my own private, personal collection. Charge her a BIG freaking viewing fee, something really expensive even for adventurers, because that is PRIVATE. But do I REALLY want to show off my private collection on my own date day?
2. Be a PRO FE SHUN AL and just sell her what I have for public consumption.
3. Take REVENGE on Tina. Suggest my revenge!

1, If Tineola is going to INSIST upon lace, then she should be willing to pay for it. We can afford to be a little less professional with customers we don't necessarily want to make into regulars.

I throw open my own PERSONAL wardrobe and find the collection of things I’ve poured hours and hours and hours into. Gloves. Underskirts. Petticoats. Stocking tops. Panties. Bras. I sort out the items I know I’ll save for Celyn if things go well, and take a few and place them into a wooden box, bringing them downstairs, brushing past a hard-at-work wizard.

“He-llo!” I smile to Tineola, far from said wizard. “This is my PERSONAL collection… not something I’d show off to anything but the most discerning customers. But, of course, I can’t just show these to ANYONE. Anything you see here must be kept ABSOLUTELY secret.”
