Might go the 'clean' route. Turning secondary displays on and off periodically jumbles the icons, and I can't actually remember ever using them.

I go through phases where I do and do not need desktop icons, and switch them on and off accordingly. But usually I need it for some annoying, little thing. I have a habit of saving shit to the desktop.

Here is mine again. I actually don't use Matlab: I just keep the icon there to remind myself to learn to use it. I've managed to keep the desktop relatively clear of junk for months now, which is nice.
