Ok, enough being pretentious. Welcome to the Slissabot thread! Slissabot is a game being worked on with two purposes: Teaching me coding (Actionscript 3 with Flixel for now) and, well, making a fun game. Hurray!

Development stuff and demos will be posted here as the game is worked on. Feel free to leave comments and suggestions.

Here's the running animation with the gun exposed! I'm a little on the fence on if the gun is part of slissabot's back, or if it comes out of a hole in the back.

Two legged running animation. This one took a very long time to get looking decent.

Slissabot will have two modes: All fours and Two legged. In all fours mode, slissabot is faster and can use tunnels. In 2 leg mode slissabot can jump higher. There will be another perk to 2-leg mode, but I don't know what yet.

And now for something playable. This is a Hello World file where I learned the basics of Action Script 3 and Flixel. This is not what the real game will be like.

Z, X, and C do things! As of this version, the 4-leg gun doesn't exist so Slissabot can only shoot Lasereks on 2 legs.

Tozzles form a defensive shield against the hearts shot by wokkyuguus, but watch out for Dasaki!

Collect coins then head to the exit.

This is pretty silly.

I like the different modes of travel. Standing up seems like a bad idea though. You are essentially invincible while generating the shield, so there's no reason to stand up to shoot unless you need the extra vertical jump.

Yeah, the thing isn't well balanced. In the real game, there won't be the Tozzle Shield (though a shield-like weapon may or may not show up later), and hopefully there will be better reasons to use one form over the other than just for getting past arbitrary barriers (though there will be plenty of those, too :3c)

It'd help if you'd numbered these or something.

Top-left or bottom-left. The lines are too visually noisy, and the pointy muzzles reduce the cute to the extent that the shiny eye looks odd.

Some thoughts on balancing upright vs quadruped stance.

Upright:
faster movement speed
frontal shield reduces damage

Quadruped:
smaller hit box
takes no fall damage
throws sparks while running

A simple level showing off some more development.

Slopes act weirdly. Mode switching has a few kinks. Wokkyuguus fly (may be a feature).

The Coins haven't been removed but don't do anything. There's no exit/win condition right now.

Simple coding showing the ability to collect life upgrades. May not be Chozakians in the real game...

beta report on the new hello world! That first narrow path you have to go down on all fours to pass through presents some edge cases that need addressing, because ramps are weird. First, you cannot go backwards through that path. Then if you manage to stand up in that space, you cannot get back down on all fours, and if you go up the ramp and become hopelessly stuck in the ceiling.
