Psychic powers are more believable than something ignoring the square cube law.

I'm working with a friend on a Minecraft Adventure Map. It's slow going at first because we have to set up tutorials and the foundation for all the features to come, but we've finished this first island for people who want to give it a shot. Do tell me what you think, won't you?

It's got a shop system, NPCs, sidequests, hidden loot all over the fucking place, and some other neat and experimental mechanics.

Also, instead of the notes most adventure maps use to give exposition or story, this one uses comics for cutscenes.

where is the snowball weaver you said there would be a snowball
I found eleven chests if you count the shop ones but not counting the one in the bonus room and there was no snowball WHY WAS THERE NO SNOWBALL WEAVER
NOT EVEN IN EMBRA'S LARGE BOSOM
Other than YOU CRUSHING MY SOUL WITH THE MISSING SNOWBALL it was neat and I would like to play more.

That was interesting.
An actual adventure mode mod might help it a bit, but even without coded rules it was still fun.

I enjoyed this quite a lot.

I have one question though - Does the pressure pad in the doorway to Kodekai's room do anything?

No, it's basically just for decoration.

That was fun! I'm looking forward to further installments.

Oh, I should probably mention - there's a section in the dock area - a corner of free water against the body of the island, near the dock - where you can get stuck. It's a 1x1 square two squares deep, and to get out, one needs to break either the destruction or no-placing-blocks rule. I'm not sure if this is a /big/ problem per se, but I thought I'd mention it.

Also, the current dock design allows boats to drift out to sea when, say, an animal bumps them (stupid ducks). Have you considered an L-shaped design?

I played and really enjoyed this adventure. How did you even make this? Some kind of map editor?

Also, MOAR PLEASE.

Thanks for the specific feedback. I've patched the hole and will consider a more fenced-in design for the dock.

MCEdit was used for a few things, like importing the working monster spawner, but the rest was all done in-game with mods, like TooManyItems (for easy selection of placeable blocks), Zombe's mods (for flying, time-freezing, and build mode), and BiomeTerrainMod (for generating the basic landscape).

Yes, the snowball thing was meant to be for later, and will eventually have something in it. For now it's just the first island.

Question about the rules/tutorial: Did I make it clear enough about how sailing works? You're only supposed to use established routes (though discerning this might be difficult when there are none in the demo) and you can only embark/disembark at designated docks. I just don't want to have to build walls through the ocean or anything, nor do I want people just sailing wherever they want or landing anywhere they please.

The tutorial could be slightly clearer in a few places, it seems to say you can't place torches in Elder2, and it doesn't specifically say you can hit TNT like it says specifically you can put out fires. I thought it was pretty clear about the boats and docks, though.
Eggs are a pain to get from just waiting for chickens, I would suggest not requiring you to get any from chickens.
It would be nice to have an easy way to tell how many chests you've found, like a token that is in each hidden chest that stack together.
Also the comics are hilarious and I love them.

Would you be interested in an actual Adventure mod where some of the rules would be mechanically enforced rather than just asking the player to not do certain things?

In all twelve chests there are a total of sixteen eggs.

I would be, if it were an official feature. But forcing users to go through the complex (for them) process of installing unofficial mods is a great way to lose almost your entire audience.

>>13930
Duly noted, I'll try to be more clear.

This was really fun. I found the comics to be quite clear, and enjoyed them.

The only negative is that there isn't more to play yet. Keep it up, bro.

I was thinking about this map yesterday, and I realized one thing that kind of irked me about it could be easily remedied. You used some colour of wool for the 'cracked' stone, but if you do it that way you end up with a bunch of whatever colour wool that was (brown?) in your inventory. Netherrack could use the same skin, is breakable by hand, and doesn't drop a block when it's destroyed.
