Well it's not bad for a start.

Let's start with this one because boob. I see what you are going for. The main problem is that you went way too easy on the shadows, so the result is kinda flat. So, that means the painting has a very low overall contrast. I probably sound like a broken record, but a lot of people who are kinda treading the waters of painting do the same thing.
Part of this is that your shadows were applied somewhat timidly. You just got to stand up to those shadows. Slap them down, or else find yourself in a world where you are intimidated by them. Ok, the other part of this is that you didn't add any highlights. This is a tricky one because IRL, gradients are kinda fine, and you generally do not see obvious lighting curves, but it helps to become familiar with over-emphasising them to create a greater 3-dimensionality. It also makes it seem more 'painterly' and a lot of people appreciate that, so it's a matter of taste. It's possible to just adjust the contrast (which I do all the time) to help you get a better range of values, but I would try painting them in sometimes so you don't end up relying on it.
I (VERY QUICKLY) scribbled on it to show what I mean, I hope that's okay. If not, well, cast me down to Davey Jones' Locker to suckle on the teat of betrayed anguish for ever more, I suppose.
