"There's a problem with that; you're absolutely terrified, and I have no way of knowing if you're saying that because it's true or because you're afraid she's going to harm you.
Your confession is worthless to me.
On a personal level? The old overlord was a jerk, and I can't imagine a worse punishment than being responsible for friends dying. Either you're innocent or you've suffered a worse punishment than I could give you.
In the future, I want you to know that you can trust me with your problems. I care.
Now, if you'll excuse me I have a very powerful girl to throw in a dungeon."
Go to Shana
"Shana, why do you keep spurning my trust?
I said I would investigate this, and you insulted my integrity by taking it into your own hands again.
I told you to not harm anybody else, and you threw my leniency in my face when I entered the barracks not an hour later to find you attacking another of my subordinates!
You got a confession, sure, but it's a worthless one! Her story changes with each telling, the details are all either missing or wrong, and she's insisting on punishment instead of further investigation!
Do you know what that means, Shana? That means she's either too terrified to hold up through questioning or you coerced a confession out of an innocent person!
Oh, make no mistake, even if the confession had been solid enough to stand up to a cursory glance it would still be worthless since fear makes people willing to say anything to get away!
This is the sort of thing you do when you want to pin the blame on somebody, not when you actually care about uncovering the truth.
If anything, all this simply makes you the biggest suspect.
I'm appalled you think so little of me, Shana. Spend tonight in the dungeon thinking of how cold it is to trust nobody."
