=== Generations === | |||
Rezans can have offspring with any race. However it is born more out of necessity than anything else. A Rezan who breeds with other Rezans can produce a Gorod. The chance of creating a Gorod however varies depending on the generation of a Rezan. Rezans group Generations based on how far back the last non-Rezan parent was, which is the factor that determines likelihood of Gorod-creation. The chart breaks down the different generations.
{{questart|136881|board=questdis}}
==== 1st Generation ====
First Generation Rezans are Rezans with a non-Rezan mother or father. This is when the majority of non-Rezan physical traits manifest and is also the least likely chance that breeding with another Rezan produces a Gorod. If both parents are First Generation, the child is as likely to be another First Generation that has the combined traits of both parents, or will be a Second Generation (Refer to the dotted line in the chart).
What's unique about 1st generation is occasionally they posess traits that would normally not appear in the Rezan race(non-pale skin, colored eyes, etc.)
==== 2nd Generation ====
The last non-Rezan is a grandparent to this generation. The Rezan side begins to take over, suppressing physical traits of the non-Rezan ancestors. They may still manifest the most prominent features of their non-Rezan side however. Chances of a Gorod from a Second Generation are more likely than a first, but still unlikely. This generation is known for having the greatest variability in their children.
==== 3rd Generation ====
The closest non Rezan would be a great-grandparent to this generation. While some still have one or two physical traits from the non-Rezan side, they are suppressed, and not nearly as big. Horns and claws will be shorter and dull. Fur will appear in patches or grow slower. Some may even appear as the "Baseline" Rezan. Fun fact: A Rezan-Human First Generation hybrid looks exactly like a Third Generation baseline Rezan, causing a lot of confusion. Of the three, these Rezans are most likely to produce Gorods, and are often encouraged to find non-Rezan mates to "thin the blood".
==== Gorods ==== | |||
The genetic dead-end of Rezans. Born sterile, they appear as a normal infant, but quickly grow in size and musculature compared to normal babies, and will be the size of a human adult in three years. However they will continue to grow, developing muscle and claw. They also develop mutations upon maturity. Some have even greater mass, some grow to the size of houses, most cases it's having a more messed up mouth with extra tendrils, grabbers, stabbers, and/or additional rows of teeth. Their intelligence is seldom greater than that of an infant, and are temperamental to most people besides immediate family. Training them is incredibly difficult, but not impossible; and given the demand for healthy Gorods in Rezan society, there are whole families that specialize in breeding and training. This is as lucrative as it is damning for the family as these Rezans will find themselves ostracized from the rest of society, kept at a spear's length in any interaction, and only contacted if a breeding contract is to be secured.
Gorods are valued for their near limitless stamina, ungodly endurance, willingess to commit violence, and ability to eat damn near anything(even if they can't actually digest it).

Famiy Tradition
Sergei
Full Name: Sergei Kristoff
Race: Rezan 1st Generation (Sergal-Tsang-Naji mix)

Races
There's a lot of races in the Familyverse. A lot.
Rezan
A human-like race(though they find the implication insulting) for the 'base form'. They are secretive, letting few outside races know of their existence. Most interactions involve raiding for slaves, or trading their bizarre artifacts for slaves.
Physical appearance
Rezans are humans, at least they may have been. Their appearance can vary drastically based on ancestry, though the most common factors between all forms is pale skin, grey-to-white hair/fur, and colorless eyes.
Abilities
Besides physical appearance, Rezans possess a range of other abilites that set them apart from other humans.
- Functional immortality- Rezans age normally until puberty is completed. Then the aging process slows to a crawl or halts completely. Then a Rezan lives possibly forever. "Possibly" being the operative word because Rezan life can be so dangerous there has been no observed death of a Rezan by old age.
- Alternative Magic Source- Rezans do not pull magic from the same source as other races of the Familyverse. Other races use the natural currents that criss-cross the universe and draw power, then shape it. A Rezan draws power from "Somewhere Else". Where this is not even Rezans are entirely sure, but the result is a magic that is far less stable, more potent, and most importantly, can be made into solid matter.
- Sensing Magic - Rezans can sense if magic is being used. Some perceive it as a taste, others hear it, or smell it. Some might even feel an ache in their joints. Whatever the case, if there is a spell being shaped, Rezan magic being drawn, or an enchantment in place, a Rezan can naturally detect it.
- Genetic Compatibility - Other races in the Familyverse have a difficult time producing offspring with each other. With Rezans it's a guarantee. Hybrids are commonplace among Rezans, but just how hybridized a Rezan is depends on their Generation.
- Limited Trait Inheritance - Hybrid Rezans inherit traits that were unique to their non-Rezan ancestors and can persist to the 2nd generation. If for example, a Rezan managed to find, seduce, and boing a dragon, the child would inherit all the abilities of the dragon, as well as any grandchildren afterwards. Sometimes it persists even further but this is a rare occurence.
- Gorods - If Rezans interbreed with only Rezans, the offspring has a chance to become a massive hunch-backed humanoid with limited intelligence, a short temper, and a massive appetite other Rezans call a Gorod. Throughout history, Rezans have used these as mounts.

Gorods are valued for their near limitless stamina, ungodly endurance, willingess to commit violence, and ability to eat damn near anything(even if they can't actually digest it).
Gulpa
Humans have to deal with Goblins. Rezans have to deal with Gulpa. Small, furry, aggressive, and breeds fast, Rezans flip flop between using them as meat shields, or pests that need to be eradicated. But no matter how many are killed, there's always more, ready to attack and pillage any Rezan dumb enough to let his guard down in the wild.
Grafla
Another race native to Rezo. They inhabit the cave networks beneath the Gamin historical home province. Nearly blind, the Grafla have an amazing sense of smell that lets them navigate the dark and fight the Scrshk that they share tunnels with. Gamin invented the devices that gave them sight. Seeing Gamin for the first time, the Grafla gave them their own name- "The Beautiful Ones". The Grafla are totally devoted to the Gamin and will do anything, even if it means destroying their race, to protect their Beautiful Ones.
Tsang Naji
A bipedal race of 4 armed dog-people. Native to the Nahoku islands, the early human settlers first assumed they were gods. This has helped the Tsang Naji place themselves in the aristocracy of Nahokan society. They are rivals with the Mo Sala

Bitter rivals since before the human colonists, their feud was tipped in the favor of the Tsang Naji when humans though the dog-people were gods and the Mo Sala demons. Much of their homeland has been claimed by the Tsang Naji and the Mo Sala now exist as nomad clans, traveling from one hidden sanctuary to the next as they continue to harass the Tsang Naji at every opportunity. MoSala
Hwaesi
Towering horned humanoids found in the northern provinces of Ming Zhuo and the Nahoku islands. They subsist entirely on raiding the other races, who they view as inferior.
Daoine
Rabbit-folk that are puny but powerful. In the hands of a Daoine, heavy weapons that a human needs two hands to lift, can be swung by a Daoine like it weighs nothing. Belligerent, they fight each other as much as they do their hated enemies, the Gormoamhi. When excited their eyes turn red. Split into a number of other ethnicities.
Gormoamhi
Giant humanoids with blue-purple hides that prefer to live underground. Their race is vastly lopsided with only 1 male for every 10 females. The men are thus pampered and treated as delicate objects(which they very much aren't) to be protected, or bartered with as a precious commodity. The females in turn take on all other roles from warriors, to artisans, and record keepers.
They believe themselves to be the only true race of People, and everyone else are non-people put on the world for them to play with. This philosophy has lead their technology to stagnate, as they do not create more than their bare basics, and will take anything else they may need from non-people. This is also why they regularly attack non-Gormoamhi settlements and squat in the ruins. Why build a shelter when non-people do it for you?
Elves
Dirty knife ears that ruin everything. More on them later.
Jassanid
A once humanoid race that has become a specialized race of reptilian-arthropod-humans. Their society is a strict caste based society, with each caste having its members molded to fit their place through carefully monitored selective breeding(and a bit of blood magic). None of the castes have true autonomy save for the leaders, the Sirassar. The Sirassar all have their own ideas of perfection, and each one will claim their own stretch of territory where the castes and races are altered to suit their own beliefs; and will battle their peers to prove it(or some other petty reason like 'His palanquin is shinier than mine') This inability to unite may be the sole reason the collective Sirassates haven't conquered the continent.
